About me

Hello and Welcome! My name is Shannon Martin and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. Are you looking for relief from life’s daily stressors? How about a change from your current situation? There's no better time than now to start your new beginning. Let me assist you in your new journey. Whether you need help in achieving your dreams, becoming more confident, overcoming past traumas or improving your relationships, I am here for you.

My therapeutic style is Integrated which entails blending and tailoring different but complimentary theories to best serve your unique and individual needs. Genuineness, Empathetic Understanding and Unconditional positive regard are the pillars of my therapeutic approach. Together we can implement and improve goal-setting and goal striving abilities, build and maintain healthy relationships with others and reconnect to self. I specialize in helping individuals cope with anxiety, depression, trauma and sexual abuse.

My goal is to empower and equip you with the necessary tools needed to build healthy relationships as well as accomplish mental health and wellness, educational, and career goals. I also provide career counseling and teach evidence-based strategies to ensure student success among first year college students. Our work will be centered around safety and trust.

My approach to therapy fosters empowerment, self-compassion, and growth. I look forward to listening to your specific concerns without judgement and helping you to achieve optimal wellness. I am deeply committed to helping people better understand their areas of struggle and how they can use their strengths to overcome challenges.

Together we can explore the unique experiences that have shaped you, and collaboratively address the presenting issues or concerns that have led you to seek therapy.
“We cannot change, we cannot move away from what we are, until we thoroughly accept what we are. Then change seems to come about almost unnoticed.”― Carl R. Rogers

I have over 10 years of experience helping to guide children, teens and adults by providing counseling and mentorship. I hold a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Master of Arts in School Counseling from Prairie View A & M University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Family Studies from Abilene Christian University.
