About me

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with more than 20 years experience working with adults, couples, and families in various settings. I have been in private practice since 2004. I have 2 offices and a solid following of many long and short term clients. I graduated in 1995 with a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy and completed a 2 year certification training in Gestalt Therapy.

We all struggle with life transitions such as developmental changes and challenges within self, family, relationships, divorce and professional challenges. Some have issues with depression, anxiety, trauma, mental illness, substance abuse, or relationship issues. I believe that therapy offers healing, growth, and clarity for clients as they courageously decide to work in a safe and confidential arena. I strive to create a warm, trusting and positive therapeutic relationship where the most difficult and personal things can be comfortably explored and understood. I believe that each of us has the ability for growth; I enjoy being a guide in that process while supporting one's expressions, values and behaviors. I utilize a variety of therapeutic orientations, all solution focused. My professional style tends to be warm and interpersonal, while rooted in evidence based practice. I work to sculpt therapy to meet each individual in their unique situation and goals.

Outside of my professional life I enjoy spending time with my family. I am a single mother to 3 stunning young men and a beautiful golden retriever, who is a huge source of support in our home. We all enjoy the outdoors, sports and time on the beach as well as the mountains. We are blessed to have access to so many beautiful surroundings that allow us to converge with nature and practice mindfulness and self care. These are tenants that I bring to my professional work as well.

I appreciate the courage it takes to make this first step. I look forward to working with you on your journey towards living with your best intentions guiding you towards more peace, comfort and happiness.

Shannon is a wonderful counsellor. I worked with her briefly but in the short span of time I feel like I really developed a connection with her. She is deeply understanding and compassionate and is great at not only listening but providing constructive feedback and insight. She has helped me work through both new and old traumas and I look forward to working with her again in the future.
