Hello,
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the following states: Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and New York. I have 30+ years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults spanning a wide range of issues: depression, anxiety, including panic disorder, trauma, and addictions as well as grief and loss. In the past five years, I've had a particular focus on working with women struggling with substance abuse disorders and trauma and am well aware of the complicated issues that impact not only the individual but their families and loved ones. I also have worked extensively with couples to help them get "back on track" to a more caring and positive relationship.
My approach is to be supportive and sensitive to individuals, as I understand that making the decision to engage in therapy can be difficult and choosing a therapist can be daunting. I'd like to convey my years of experience is such that I have a good sense of how to make people feel supported and comfortable! I will do my best to create a safe and trusting relationship so you can move quickly to deal with your issues.
My training beyond graduate school includes certification in Structural Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and EMDR, which is a specific approach to treating trauma. I also have numerous workshop training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. While the expertise I have in these treatment modalities is important, what you need to know is that it is "your" therapy and "your" therapy session, so the problems and the approach is something that we will decide together as we move through sessions.
