I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 yrs of experience providing clinical services in various settings. I absolutely enjoy helping others in this capacity. I am humbled by the continued willingness of my clients to allow me to share in their journey of emotional/psychological wellness, growth and healing.
A little about me, I am a graduate of the University of Chicago- School of Social Service Administration with a M.A. in Social Work and Lawrence University of WI with a B.A. in Psychology. My education coupled with my 20+ yrs of clinical practice equipped me with the necessary tools to effectively engage clients. My clinical experiences include working as a Psychiatric Social Worker in corrections; an active duty military Clinical Social Worker and the last 8 yrs as a civilian Clinical Social Worker with the Dept of Defense. Throughout these experiences, I have helped teens, men and women navigate many of life's various challenges, to include stress and phase of life concerns to anxiety, depression and domestic violence.
My philosophy is simple; every experience, good or bad, provides an opportunity to learn and grow. My goal is to help clients identify, process and address concerns in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment. I am honored to have the opportunity to travel on this journey with you. As part of the therapeutic process we will utilize various worksheets as well as the journal section between sessions.
** Please note I am not able to offer video sessions at the moment but can offer live chat and phone sessions.
I look forward to working with you in the future.

Shawn has helped me tremendously. She is a sharp and careful listener, and I felt understood, comfortable, and safe in my sessions with her, in a time in my life when it was hard for me to feel that way with others. It was easy to connect with her and I felt she could pick up on the subtleties of what I was saying without having to over explain. I would also send her long messages during the week, letting my thoughts out about stressors or triggers, and she was very consistent and helpful in replying to and addressing each point I raised. I have worked with a number of providers on Betterhelp and my experience with Shawn was the best. She is now on leave so unfortunately I will need to look for a new therapist. Thank you Shawn!

Very good at dealing with multiple issues at the same time. She was also very understanding when commitment levels to therapy fluctuated because of things happening.

Shawn has been the best counselor I have ever worked with. She made my voice feel heard and offered me solutions and tools to help through the stresses and anxieties that impacted me throughout my life. I have never felt more prepared and confident to leave counseling after working with Shawn. I would recommend her to anyone due to her ability to connect with an individual on a personal and comforting level.

Shawn is a wonderful listener and she lets me talk about my problems without me feeling invalidated. I’ve seen such an improvement in the way my anxiety has gone down and also in the ways in which I respond to certain triggers.
