About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Texas with over 10 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have worked in an array of areas including community mental health, correctional care, and outpatient veteran care. I have the most experience working with post-traumatic stress, anxiety, family/relationship conflicts, life transitions, military-related issues, and complex trauma/abuse.

I believe that one of the most important pieces of therapy is the relationship between you and the therapist. In order for therapy to be a safe place, there has to be a connection and trust has to be established.

My counseling system is client-centered and focused on promoting a warm, positive, safe space to work through issues that are continuing to bother you. I believe that all people have something to improve on and deserve to be treated with compassion in a nonjudgmental environment. Deciding to seek counseling services is a courageous first step to creating a better future! You are the architect of your future.

I look forward to working with you!

Shawna has giving me hope that we can change for the better. She has helped me in so many ways of my self confidence and trusting my own choices. I had so much doubt in seeing or speaking to a counselor and having others tell me I need help was a hard pill to swallow. I think we only accept what we can or what we will accept. I have accepted that I do need to let some emotions I have build in my past just go, with Shawna help I've done the majority of it. I still have a lot of progress to come, but I think the biggest gain is I've not only made a new friendship with Shawna I have definitely gained a awesome point of view with struggles

Shawna made me feel welcomed and at ease since day one. She's very open, caring, and knowledgeable. She's easy to talk to, which creates the perfect therapeutic environment. I truly can't recommend her enough!

Shawna has been awesome. She listens and gives great insight along with practical applications to help resolve problems. I enjoy speaking with her, even when it’s something tough to hear.

I've had counseling/therapy on and off for 6 years now with different people, and Shawna has been my most positive experience hands down. I feel like she hits that perfect balance of making a client feel respected as an individual while helping them improve/heal with some guidance. I don't ever feel uncomfortable, judged, or looked down on but I do always feel like I can trust her to be honest. I've never felt more optimistic about what I can do through therapy as I do now, and wish everyone I love could have therapy like this in their lives.
