About Me

My name is Shayna Diaz and I’m honored to be able to hold space for people to engage in self-reflection and experience growth in a judgement free space. I firmly believe that externalizing some of the negative and unhelpful self-talk that goes on in our heads can help us to begin to look at ourselves and our lives through a new lens, and increase feelings of hopefulness and empowerment. In a society where we often are encouraged to “keep things light” I aim to provide people a space to show up as their authentic selves and receive direct feedback and tools to work through the emotions they are experiencing at that time. My hope is that through this process people can feel empowered to make hard choices, feel more positive about themselves and their relationships, and overall improve their quality of life.

I graduated from University of Vermont with a Bachelors in Social Work and received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health and Addictions Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University. I am a registered Licensed Therapist in Portland, Oregon. Over the past 10 years I have worked in schools, inpatient and outpatient treatment facilities and in homes. I have worked with children of all ages, parents, families, couples, and seniors. I have a lot of experience working with people in all stages of recovery from drug and alcohol use, including teenagers. I like to use Cognitive Behavioral strategies to identify some thought patterns that can keep us stuck, and then teach new self-care and coping strategies using a holistic approach focusing on total body wellness.

Shayna is doing everything she can to help me. By encouraging, counseling, and most of all takes my request and questions seriously with reasonable responses.
Its not easy to find a counselor who will discuss topics openly. Basically she let me analyses her while she analyses me which help me relax and open up.

Shayna is caring and quite empathetic. She genuinely wants to help her clients and is very good at what she does. This is a process of healing for me and it's going to take some time, but I feel that I'm on the right path with her assistance. Highly recommended.

I would first like to say that I am grateful that I was contacted after my first failed experience with a previous therapist, and I was curious and open at the same time, as to how therapy via email and phone would work. Turns out, it worked wonderfully. Shayna was a perfect fit for my need. She was able to process my information and pinpoint those areas where I was getting stuck that I could not see for myself.
