About me
As a mental health counselor, my commitments are to help the person better themselves through increasing their self-esteem, and advocacy. Together we will create a safe and trusting working relationship in a therapeutic environment where you feel comfortable to work. I began my career as a counselor through corrections. At 18 I worked as an advocate with the mentally ill with the police department, both to bring awareness to mental illness and to work with the police regarding their approach to people with mental illness. I was drawn to the crisis and challenge of a multitude of experiences.
I focus on supporting the individual through the goals that they have in mind and encouraging them along the way. The therapy sessions are ever evolving and change based on the needs of the individual. The therapeutic environment is free from judgment, and I strive to provide a safe environment to address trauma and current concerns. I primarily provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Strength Based. I specialize in working in individuals who have past trauma, foster or adopted children and adults, legal history mixed with mental illness, and mood disorders. I enjoy working with clients on building their self-esteem while decreasing their anxiety, learning coping skills, and relationship skills.
I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver in 2008. This year I will be completing my Doctorate with an emphasis in Human Services. Also, I have my Masters in Criminal Justice from the University of Colorado. I completed my undergraduate from Mount Mercy in Cedar Rapids Iowa with a Bachelor of Science with majors in Criminal Justice and Social Work with a minor in Pre-Law. I am a LCSW in Colorado and Wyoming.
I have a farm full of rescued animals from horses, donkeys, goats, pigs, cats, turtle, chickens, ducks, and dogs. I have a supportive partner and 3 adopted kids who are 18, 11, and 9.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Sheena Munsch. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Sheena has been a good therapist.
She has been a great listener and has been helping through tough times.
You are awesome and I so appreciate you and your timely responses and availability for sessions on phone or over chat.
She’s great!
Sheena has helped guide me through building my confidence while dealing with trauma and grief as so many of us are. She has been a compassionate and kind listener and offers advice only when needed and encouragement always.
I have been in different forms of therapy before that May have helped but also broke me down to a point where I couldn’t function normally. I’m sure she can provide “though love” when needed, but I am already far too critical of myself so I need a gentler approach.
Whether you are dealing with chronic clinical conditions like myself or are just going through a particularly tough time I would recommend Sheena. Rather than push me she has offered advice and insight to motivate myself in a healthy way both personally and professionally.
When I am full of grief and do not want to burden my friends and family or cannot get what I need from them, she is there. When I want to focus on other things outside of counseling, she gives me that space.
Thank you for all that you do!
Sheena is wonderful. Is helping me heal
Sheena has helped me a lot so far, she is great at listening and giving feedback. She’s also helped me identify places where I need more help and the tools to do it.
Talking to Sheena has been extremely helpful. I've learned better coping mechanisms, have learned to be more mindful and have learned to recognize any negative emotions and deal with it constructively before it gets worse.
Sheena has been very attentive. Helpful. And knowledgable. B
Sheena has helped me tremendously, i love talking to her and she has helped me learn and grow and become who i am today, i know i have a lot of work to do but i do appreciate sheenas advice and expertise
I have been extremely grateful for Sheena's compassion and support. She has provided me with professional insight and invaluable encouragement.
Highly Recommended!
She is an absolutely outstanding counselor!
Sheena is wonderfully supportive. Sheena listens and understands my concerns. Sheena offers very practical advice that has helped ground me when I feel dysregulated.
Sheena has been a wonderful counselor! She makes me feel very comfortable and is very easy to talk to. Some things are just not things I want to discuss with my siblings and my friends have their own issues so it is nice to have someone to talk to that has resources to help me better understand what I'm going through and also resources to help me through my anxiety attacks and my depression. She has helped bring me back from a very dark place and made me feel like there is something to live for again! I am very glad I was matched with her!
Sheena has really helped me by reading what I have to say, and asking questions that give her a better insight of my life situation. She replies at odd hours, but I am usually awake when she sends messages. I always look forward to talking to her; she gives me a sense of security in the sense that I know she is always there and doesn't mind listening to my problems. I don't like to open up to my friends about the things that bother me most, because I know they have their own battles and I don't ever want to burden them with mine. However, with Sheena, I don't worry about that. I know she can help me and has the right resources. Thank you, Sheena! You're amazing!
Sheena is great at listening to my concerns and offers great suggestions along my counseling journey.
Sheena is always there if I’m struggling, but more than that, she’s always popping in to see how I’m doing. It means the world to me that she’s thinking of me and takes the time to reach out. She’s been amazing!
Sheena is very timely and supportive. She is very easy to open up to.
Sheena has been a big help in bringing me back from my fears over taking me and gives me helpful tools, conversation starters and other resources to truly resolve my concerns. She follows up or reaches out even if I haven’t reached out.
Sheena has made me feel comfortable to talk about my issues and is good at guiding conversations to help me get the root of things.
