Sheila Cook, LCSW
About me
Are you struggling with sadness, anxiety, or having a difficult time balancing the demands of relationships, work, school, or life in general? I am eager to help you develop more effective ways of managing complex situations and challenges that may occur in life. Struggling with a mental health illness should not be seen as a normal part of life. You do not need to feel alone in your journey. Allow me to be there with you for the support, guidance, and encouragement that you deserve.
As your mental health therapist I have had training in several different therapy modalities. I am most comfortable working with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma focused CBT, Parent Management Therapy (PMT), and the Collaborative & Proactive Solutions model.
A quote by Maya Angelo best describes my motto. "We cannot change the past, but we can change our attitude toward it. Uproot guilt and plant forgiveness. Tear out arrogance and seed humility. Exchange love for hate---thereby, making the present comfortable and the future promising"--Maya Angelo
