About me
Shelia Holmes is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. She is originally from Huntsville, Alabama an earned a B.A. in Psychology and a M.ED in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Auburn University. She has worked in the mental health field as a case manager for the adult population with intellectual disabilities prior to her career as a therapist. Shelia has experience providing therapy in diverse settings. During her internship, Shelia had the opportunity to work at the inpatient treatment and intensive outpatient program at Crossbridge Behavioral Health. She has provided individual and group therapy to consumers who attended Adult Day Service programs at East Alabama Mental Health Center. Shelia had the opportunity to work with inmates residing in the residential treatment unit of Bullock Correctional Facility who experienced severe symptoms of depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia. As a therapist at Auburn University at Montgomery, she provided therapy and outreach to undergrad and grad students dealing with the combined stressors of academics, mood instability, and financial concerns. Shelia’s focus is to help all in need of mental wellness. Her favorite quote, “I’m not going to tell you to get over it, I’m going to help you get through it” exemplifies her desire to help clients persevere through difficult times.

Shelia has been great. She really has made me put somethings into prospective and I’m starting to open up more. I think these counseling sessions will help in the long run.
