About me

My name is Shelley and I am a qualified counsellor and a member of the BACP. I started my counselling journey when I accessed support myself at the age of 18. It was then that I really understood the importance of being open with your feelings and how much you can benefit from having someone to listen without judgement. At times, exploring my thoughts and experiences wasn’t easy but it enabled me to grow in both resilience and confidence which helped me to move forward.

I found the process so beneficial that I embarked on my own training to become a counsellor. I have always had a passion for working with people so it felt natural to work therapeutically in this field. During my training and since qualifying I have worked at a local mental health charity as a child and young person’s counsellor as well as working with adults within my private practice.

I consider my approach to therapy to be gentle and I ensure that I work at the client’s pace. I pride myself on offering a safe, welcoming and confidential environment for clients to explore whatever difficulties they may be facing. My therapeutic approach to counselling is known as integrative. meaning that I draw on a variety of different counselling theories to offer a personalised service.

I look forward to working with you!
