About me

My name is Shelley Smith and I have been a licensed Marriage Family Therapist in Los Angeles, California for over 20 years. I
also ran a very successful and respected fertility program California. I enjoy helping people transform their lives, and I would love to help you find ways to make your life better. There are a lot of opportunities and tools I can show you as you guide me through your life.
I work from a humanistic model, holding my clients in high regard, and collaborating together to find the tools and
strategies to complement their unique experiences. I believe in self actualization, empathy, and a practical solution oriented use of suggestions and referrals. Our sessions should be filled with insight, warmth, humor and hope and built on a foundation of trust.
As you are reaching out for counseling, it may be likely that something has recently overwhelmed you; perhaps a loss, a
family issue, or workplace woes. Coping with the COVID-19 pandemic and our changing world can be extremely stressful
and isolating; together we can help you find ways to take care of yourself and find coping strategies. Virtual sessions can be
meaningful. I commend you for making a decision to empower yourself to make a change. I want to help you
find your purpose, examine your goals, deal with your emotions, and provide you with genuine support to help you live
your best life.

Shelley is a wonderful therapist. You can really tell that she is passionate about what she does. She is very present and passionate about understanding me and helping me . She goes above and beyond with helping me find solutions to problems and looking at things from a new perspective. She is always on time to sessions and answers messages in a timely manner. The few times there has been technical difficulties on my end she is always quick to find a new solution to the problem and won’t stop trying until it is fixed. She is kind, compassionate and has a way with words that just make it so easy to comprehend. (Even with the most challenging topics) every time I end a session with Shelley I feel relieved. I also feel like I am walking away with more knowledge and confidence in my feelings, thoughts and actions. Every session I have had with her we have detangled a new complicated issue and simplified it and found solutions. I have had many therapists in my life but none like Shelley. I have Grown the most with her simply because of her passion and way with words.

Shelley is the best and I am so grateful I got matched with her. Her kindness and her expertise came through in each and every conversation, and I got so much out of my sessions with her. This was the first time I had ever sought counseling for anything, and I am so glad that I did and that I got to work with Shelley. She helped me through some specific anxiety and stress issues - and also gave me strategies and a mindset that will help me in many future situations. I can't recommend her highly enough.
