About Me

The challenges we’re facing today are different than any other time in our lives. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety from daily life, family communication, addiction or having trouble with negative thinking traps, it is important that you know you don’t have to be alone in this journey. No two individuals are the same, and I tailor our sessions to address challenges unique to you. I utilize mindfulness, cognitive therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) among other tools in therapy based on the individual needs of my clients. We will work together to explore the struggles that you face and how to overcome them. I enjoy helping individuals work through the chaos to find the calm.

As a licensed professional counselor, I work with every type of client and have collaborated successfully with adults, teens and families to overcome life’s challenges. I believe in a comprehensive lifestyle approach to achieving mental and physical wellness. I am trained in EMDR. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy approach developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro to help people heal from trauma or adversities such as issues of abuse, bullying, domestic violence, grief/loss, attachment wounds, abandonment, PTSD, and many other complicated life issues.

I graduated in 2009 from Dallas Baptist University with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies. In 2012, I graduated from Southern Methodist University with an M.S. in Counseling. As a licensed professional counselor with over 10 years of work experience, I’ve collaborated successfully with my clients to work through frustrations and mental illness that at times can feel debilitating. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family (I’m a mom of two), training my dog for future work as a therapy dog, running and yoga. With time, the right approach, and help, it can get better. I look forward to the opportunity to connect with you!

10/10 Shelly is fantastic. She has been able to piece together what I'm saying and really help me find root issues and where my anxiety is coming from. She has also given me tools to better manage my anxiety and help me to see issues sooner for better management as well.
