Hello there let me introduce myself, I am Sheri! I am licensed practicing counselor working in Michigan, and I am charmed and delighted that you are taking the time to learn more about me. Here are a few things that you should know about me right off the bat. I have been a licensed counselor for approximately 15 years and during that time I have worked in both the community and private sectors of mental health in such settings as outpatient, partial hospital and employee assistance programs. Throughout my career I gained experience working with clients of all ages, including children, teens and adults with issues that include anxiety, depression, stress, parenting problems, relationship issues, low self esteem, decisions making, life transitions, self improvement and career challenges. I recently benefited from and increased my expertise working with people with childhood trauma and emotional abuse.
My style of counseling focuses on empathy and compassion. I strongly believe that every person is unique so my approach during therapy adheres to those ideals. The atmosphere that I build during the counseling session is client driven and person centered with an emphasis on respect and boundaries. In my life I have had my own personal journey with mental health issues so I can relate to others and I have no problems bringing my knowledge and experience into the counseling arena in order to help guide my clients as needed. I mostly work in the realm of cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapy along with a more "healing" focus. I love working with people and empowering them to develop new behaviors that will lead to a successful life.
My motto is as follows, "One can feel empowered and achieve self improvement through self love, self acceptance and self worth."
I look forward working with you to help you achieve all that you can!
- Stress, Anxiety
- Trauma and abuse
- Self esteem
- Coping with life changes
I also have experience in Relationship issues, Family conflicts, Grief, Intimacy-related issues, Sleeping disorders, Parenting issues, Anger management, Career difficulties, Bipolar disorder, Compassion fatigue, ADHD
