About me

I am a licensed clinical social worker in Florida with more than 20 years of experience in the field, I have helped hospice patients work through end of life issues and I've worked with caregivers to address family conflicts, compassion fatigue and caregiver burnout. I've also helped people with depression and anxiety find ways to move through their emotional pain to live more comfortably in a difficult world.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I have worked with clients in all phases of finding and embracing their place on the gender / orientation spectrum, as well as their friends and family members who may also be struggling to understand and/ or accept what this journey encompasses.

I use a wide variety of modalities, including motivational interviewing, bibliotherapy, elements of narrative therapy and CBT techniques to break the cycle of anxiety and negative thought processes. My work is solution focused, and the direction we take is always decided by you, the client.

There is no better time than now to reach out for support. I'm glad you have taken this first step and I look forward to sharing this process with you.

Sherrie Bast has been phenomenal. With humor and compassion, she has given me tools to get better. She's a good listener, who never makes me feel judged, and who I know is always rooting for me. Our sessions have been something I've looked forward to every week.

Talking with Sherrie is like a visit to Grandma’s House if your grandma is the sort of cook who lets you put on the apron and use the tools if you tell her you’re sure you want to try. Like really, really, sure (she wants you to be 100%, ok no 80% correct. She can clean up if you run into an error, but it is a hassle.) She is constantly checking on you because she is your Nana and she loves you a whole, whole lot. And it can be a tad overwhelming if you forget you can ask for help… and she says “What did you do” but if you can explain how you got here she will give you partial credit”

TLDR: like a visit to grandma through the woods and when you get there she has made your favorite food, and set your favorite sauce on the table exactly where you usually sit. But if you ask nicely, she’ll put you somewhere else. 8.9992/10 stars
