About me

My name is Sherry and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years of experience in the behavioral health field. I have worked with children and adults, families, couples and military members, with a myriad of issues, ranging from trauma and abuse, substance use issues, stress and anxiety, PTSD, adjustment disorders, grief and loss, separation issues, anger management, depression and life transitions. It is my core belief that every individual holds the power for change and like a seed that needs the right conditions to grow, the seed of positive change must be nurtured in order to grow. My goal is to facilitate a trusting, nurturing, and sometimes challenging but powerful partnership that supports positive change and growth. Through this partnership, clients can gain a deeper understanding of his/her individual needs, thoughts, patterns and limiting beliefs and what it takes to effect positive change.

Currently, I hold a Bachelor degree in Psychology and a Master of Education in Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor in the State of Virginia, as well as, Master Addiction Counselor and Substance Abuse Professional.

As a therapist, I utilize an holistic/integrative and person-centered approach to counseling and psychotherapy. I employ creativity and dynamism, while maintaining professionalism and ethical boundaries, within the parameters set by ACA. My approach is to be honoring of each individual’s story, unique perspective and culture while partnering with clients on the journey to self-realization and affirmation of worth.

I love talking to my counselor because she makes me feel like I am not overreacting to the way things are. She helps me see the bigger picture, and gives me ways I can reduce my anxieties. She also goes out of her way to find me resources that I can use around my area. She’s great!

Sherry is amazing. She is so knowledgeable and understanding. I appreciate how well she listens and responses to my body language, not just my words.

Sherry Condell has already helped me so much! My biggest fear coming into this was that I would be judged or that someone wouldn’t completely listen to me and understand. Sherry gives out no judgment and reminds me to not judge myself so harshly! I look forward to keep working with her and to continue making progress!
