About me

About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and educational psychologist with over 28 years of experience working as a counselor and psychologist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, motivational issues, and loneliness. I have counseled many children, families and individuals in a variety of settings.

I have earned a PhD in Clinical psychology and specialist level training in educational psychology.

My counseling style is warm and interactive, blending a variety of approaches into an integrative therapy that embraces an attitude towards the practice of therapy that affirms the inherent value of each individual. It is a unifying therapy that responds appropriately and effectively to the person at the affective, behavioral, cognitive, and physiological levels of functioning,, and addresses as well the spiritual dimension of life. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion,. My approach combines client-entered, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, Jungian, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and crisis intervention. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

Therapy is the process of integrating the personality: taking disowned, unaware, or unresolved aspects of the self and making them part of a cohesive personality, reducing the use of defense mechanisms that inhibit spontaneity and limit flexibility in problem solving, health maintenance, and relating to people, and re-engaging the world with full contact. It is the process of making whole. Through integration, it becomes possible for people to face each moment openly and freshly without the protection of a pre-formed opinion, position, attitude, or expectation.

I have many years of experience working with children and teens. Child development research and literature provide a variety of insights into how children grow and learn, how relational disruptions and the resulting internal distress are accommodated and compensated at each developmental age. To implement an in-depth and integrative therapy approach, it is essential to work from a developmental perspective. The literature on human development also leads to the premise that the sense of self and self-esteem emerge out of contact-in-relationship. Developmental concepts provide the basis for developmental attunement, forming developmental images, phenomenological inquiry, and therapeutic inferences that allow implicit and procedural memory to be expressed in a therapeutic narrative.

The aim of an integrative approach to therapy is to facilitate wholeness such that the quality of the person's being and functioning in the world around them.

It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.

Individual therapy is a unique process that can support and catalyze you in the areas of your life where you feel stuck or distressed. It can also increase your understanding of the way you engage with the world and with yourself, leading to stronger resilience, life satisfaction and contentment, and overall well-being. We recognize that beginning individual therapy may be challenging, and we strive to provide you with thoughtful and considerate treatment.

I look forward to taking this journey with you!
