Deciding to seek help takes courage and strength. I believe that you have the capacity to change and grow throughout the course of your life. I have been successful in helping people develop skills to address current difficulties, process past experiences, and overcome anxiety about the future. You have the capacity to get "unstuck", and learn how to live fully in the present moment.
I employ an integrative approach to treatment based on the needs of the individual. My therapeutic approach is heavily based on the widely researched and evidence based cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy, with a strong focus on teaching mindfulness skills. I have worked successfully with many clients on issues related to phase of life stress, resilient identity transformation, gender and sexuality issues, and relationship and communication problems.

Dr. Bruner and I have worked together for over a year. She has been a constant source of support and guidance for me. I am forever grateful for all her work to help me live a balanced and mentally/emotionally healthy life.
It is impossible to quantify how valuable it has been working with Sonya over the past year. Her help has been a lifeline and has transformed my wellbeing. I came to counselling at a time of real desperation. When I first spoke with Sonya I had already tried counselling but had not found a counsellor who was the right fit. I was convinced it didn't work and was ready to give up.
Sonya has been unbelievably kind and patient and understanding in her approach, and has managed to push me in the right direction without force or judgement. She's provided helpful tools for giving me insight, and, even though I initially came to her with a specific issue I was struggling with at the time, she's impacted my perspective on life in a much more long term way than I ever anticipated. I can't imagine what I would have done without her.
Sonya has invigorated my belief in the magical power of counselling, and has provided a way through the darkness that I didn't believe existed a year ago. Cannot recommend this wonderful counsellor highly enough.
Dr. Bruner has been great - very accessible and thoughtful in her approach.
Dr. Bruner is kind, patient, and thoughtful. She's empathetic and really listens, giving you goals to work on and taking an active interest in me as an individual. She's wonderful and very professional. Thank you Sonya!
Great response time, really wonderful working with Dr. Bruner!
Went through several psychs before I found someone who grasped what I was struggling with, was able to figure out a lot of answers and remove a lot of obstacles. It feels good to be able to see through the fog.
Sonya was absolutely wonderful. She listened and understood what I was going through, asked questions that allowed me to express the challenges, and provided insights and clarification on how I was handling the situation that made me feel incredibly reassured and empowered. I recommend her to anyone and everyone going through difficult situations.
Dr. Bruner has so far been a good therapist and is quick to get back with you.
Sonya has been a great support system for me and is always there exactly when I need to talk!
Sonya is extremely knowledgeable and professional!
Dr Bruner has helped me through one of the hardest times in my life.
Her understanding and no judgmental approach to calming me and helping me has been invaluable.
She really is amazing!
Dr. Bruner has been an absolute delight as a counselor. She is kind, insightful and quick to get back to you. She really cares about you and your progress. She's very personable, knowledgeable and welcoming. Talking to her feels like you're talking to a friend you've had for years.
Very quick responses, great online "bedside manner" and her focus on how to change thinking and behaviors (CBT) was a perfect match for my needs.
Dr. Bruner has done a fantastic job of helping me through some of my darkest days. I would consider my condition to be somewhat severe but she has provided an enlightening perspective on my issues and has offered some very supportive suggestions. She seems very knowledgeable, experienced, and overall I really enjoy working with her.
Kind and caring with good suggestions. Thank you.
She has been amazing for me. I couldn't thank her enough for what she has done. Words cannot even express right now how I feel and the changes she has helped me make in my life.
