Welcome! Connecting with a counselor who is a good fit for you is so very important so let me share a bit about me.
My undergraduate degree is in theology and biblical studies and after several years of working in the church setting I discovered that my true passion was helping others through counseling so I returned to school for the appropriate education and training. My graduate degree is in counseling and guidance from Texas A&M University-Commerce and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in good standing with the State of Texas.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is my primary theoretical approach and, when needed, REBT (Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy). I'm directive and very goal oriented with my clients and work with them to set and achieve short term goals through discussion, exploration and assignments. My approach includes, but is not limited to, identifying and challenging negative thought processes, teaching clients the art of 'reframing' and teaching techniques to reduce anxiety.
I have extension experience working with depression, anxiety/panic, grief and loss as well as relationship issues. I look forward to helping you!
ATTENTION NEW MEMBERS:
As we get started, I do request that we have a live video session so we can meet one another face to face Each week thereafter we can schedule at least one live video session OR one phone session per week (and depending on your membership, we can certainly have more than one per week, if needed], We can message throughout each week as often as you'd like, or as needed, but the video sessions and phone sessions are especially helpful in giving you the opportunity to process and work toward setting and meeting your goals.
