About me

Hello and Welcome to Better Help !
My name is Stella and I am licensed in the State of Utah & Texas. I received my BA & MA degree in Social Work at the University of South Africa. My degrees have been approved and accepted by the American Board of Social Work.
I have 23 years experience of working in a variety of settings, with different populations, ages, problems and situations. These include: inpatient psychiatric hospitals, counseling organizations, child welfare, dialysis, skilled nursing homes and ARDA.
I view the therapeutic alliance as a partnership which requires mutual trust, respect, honest communication, and commitment to work.
I strongly believe in an eclectic and holistic approach to help clients fulfill their potential and accomplish the goals set. Different modalities are incorporated in the treatment plan: CBT, solution focused, client centered, motivational interviewing and mindfulness.
Listening, empathy, feedback, understanding, non-judgmental, and kindness are some of my strong therapeutic qualities.
I look forward to working with you.

I have just started with my counselor so we are just getting to know each other which is important. But I feel like she pays attention and hears me and has been very constructive and helpful. I am hopeful.

Stella is very good at listening to me! She never makes me feel judged despite how some of my more anxious thoughts sound. She also understood my personality and what works for me and provided me with strategies that helped me function better in life.

I really appreciate the prompt responses I receive from Stella and the tools I have been offered. I appreciate having a variety of ways to meet with a counselor that can fit better in my schedule as a stay at home mom.

She is a wonderful person and very good at her job. She makes me feel like I can get through my problems and gives me helpful information and things I can actively do to change my life for the better. She feels like a friend and communicates like one.
