Stephanie Batts


About Me

I am a professional counselor licensed in Illinois (LCPC), as well as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I have worked with a diverse population and a wide range of ages. Most of my experience has been working with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma issues, relationship issues, parenting issues, substance abuse issues and self esteem issues. I approach each new client with an open mind and a desire to help them reach their own goals. I hope to create an accepting, comfortable, compassionate "space" for the client to feel safe sharing information about sometimes uncomfortable thoughts and difficult situations. I believe in a holistic approach and by using a combination of counseling techniques (cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, self-awareness, etc) I can tailor therapy to a client's specific needs, strengths, and abilities. On a personal note, I use these techniques in my own life to deal with stresses, etc. I enjoy mindful walks, yoga, creating artwork, listening to music and reading as my ways to unwind and create positive energy in my own life.

I understand that it is not easy for most of us to reach out for help. Opening up to tell your story and move toward change, I believe, is one of the bravest and most important things we can do. Using the Betterhelp platform and working with Stephanie has been a good first step for me to try counselling when I was hesitant to do so before. Stephanie is easy to communicate with and a good listener and has been helpful with suggesting things for me to work on. I like the fact that she is knowledgeable and open to using different techniques such as meditation. Although it has only been a few weeks I feel like I am making progress.
