About me

Psychotherapy can help you develop new attitudes, emotional experiences, and ways of being in the world. I offer space in the context of a therapeutic relationship to improve your mental and/or emotional health by providing you with tools and interventions for change. I do this with curiosity, connection, and encouragement. My goal is to provide witness and support for you on your path.

We start psychotherapy with exploring and determining goals you have. I like to meet my clients where they are, with supportive boundaries. My approach is authentic, engaged, and warm. Some areas we may address include improving coping skills, healthy relationships, substance use, and life transitions. One way I see counseling is as the process of exploring and naming the stories we hold about ourselves, then identifying which parts of these stories resonate with your true self. This is typically a part of trauma recovery. Trauma-informed practice is one of my clinical foundations.

As a clinical social worker, I can help you determine ways to outsource your various needs and care for your whole self. I aim to be sensitive to how your individual cultural identities and lifestyle choices impact your experience. Addressing systems of power and oppression is a part of my work. I practice counseling through harm reduction, psychodynamic, and trauma informed approaches. Other techniques include mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused counseling.

I offer experience working throughout the SF Bay Area in mental health and substance abuse treatment, including community programs. Please ask me more about my experience and expertise if you would like! I am licensed with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have my Master’s in Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work, 2016.

I require video sessions with my clients at least once every two weeks, typically 45 minutes once a week. If you are new to therapy, or nervous about connecting in this way, I commend you and your willingness to try counseling! look forward to meeting you.

Stephanie helped me a great deal in strengthening my relationship with my young son in the wake of some severe trauma that we both endured. She helped me process a lot of guilt and other feelings that I was struggling with.
