My counseling approach is to enter into a professional therapeutic relationship with (you) the client in which (I) the Professional Counselor assist you in exploring and resolving challenging life issues. I believe that the Professional Therapeutic Relationship between client and therapist is the key variable in facilitating positive changes. The counselors techniques utilized will vary and will be based on the information gathered in the clinical assessment. You will work with your therapist to focus on your needs and develop your treatment goals. It is imperative that you be involved in the goal setting process to enhance your growth. To achieve personal growth it is necessary for you to assume responsibility for your actions, decisions, and behaviors. Therefore complete responsibility for the direction of treatment rests with you (the client). In addition to this the outcome of your counseling depends on your compliance and progress in treatment.

My theoretical orientation involves an integrated approach in which I provide therapy based on the theory and techniques that I believe are appropriated for your individual needs. My clinical practice involves the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This therapy explores how clients think about themselves and the world and promotes clients’ acting on those cognitions through behavior in their daily lives. It involves the use of behavior assessment and modification techniques such as cognitive restructuring, positive reinforcement, modeling, contracting, relaxation training, assertion training, and self- management programs. Other counseling approaches used may include Adlerian therapy. This therapy explores how behavior occurs in a social context, family constellation and birth order, lifestyle and social interest. . I’ve never felt so understood and heard by a therapist. Stephanie really hears what I’m saying and she is brilliant and she is able to decipher what I’m feeling and put it into view for me so I can understand what I’m thinking and feeling and make plans to make myself better. She really makes me feel like she has got my absolute best interest in mind and is really helping me understand myself better and be the best version of myself. She is truly amazing and is so incredibly good with her communication and makes everything easy to understand. She has helped me immensely in just the short amount of time we have had together and I am so happy I have the opportunity to work with her and highly recommend her to anyone and everyone.

While I didn’t work with Stephanie long, I found her guidance to be extremely helpful within the first session. She helped me see things a lot more clearly than before I started working with her and I’m grateful I went to her for help.

I have finished my sessions for now, and I wanted to reflect back on how invaluable the process has been. Stephanie Speller-Henderson listened well, gave good constructive feedback, and helped me in so many other ways. After working things through with her verbally and in writing, I was able to take the steps I needed to take. She helped me to evaluate and improve both my situation and the way I was thinking about my situation. If I need counseling in the future, I will seek her out in a heartbeat.

She offers great insight to matters discussed and shows a genuine concern in helping you resolve issues by equipping you with the right resources. Also, her energy and expertise provide such a safe space to openly discuss matters of the heart and life. Honestly, I wish I had found her years ago! She’s very understanding, and will tell you the truth about a situation/problem you’re dealing with. She doesn’t sugar coat life and is super helpful while you’re going through tough times. She listens actively and she makes me feel comfortable while I’m opening up about uncomfortable situations.

She's great. I would send a longer review but it's late and I didn't expect this popup. All I can say is that Stephanie will really hold you accountable to the things you say you want to do to improve yourself, and she's a no-BS counselor. I personally really benefit from the kind of straight-shooting she does. Counselors who don't tell me how it really is, who aren't blunt or assertive enough, tend to have a hard time helping me. I'm not a man of action, so I need someone who doesn't vacillate to help me explore my problems (and their solutions). I'm definitely heartbroken to have to leave Stephanie soon and I don't think I'll be able to find another counselor who can provide the same style (or quality) of service.

Stephanie makes me feel listened. Her questions are so thoughtful. I truly value her insights and the space she provides me to explore my concerns. Before we started talking, Stephanie asked me several questions and those questions really helped me to prioritize my concerns and the areas I wanted to work on, which was tremendously helpful. I recommend Stephanie without a doubt.

This is was my first time seeking counseling and Stephanie has been awesome . She understands where I come from and send a lot of help and deals a lot of it as well . Our first session she got down to the T and asked me questions I’ve never got before . She really focuses on main points in my situations and gets to them fast . Highly recommended .

Stephanie is a great listener and does a great job of providing resources to help you move past what you are struggling through.

Written by N.A. on Oct 05, 2020 after therapy with Stephanie for 2 weeks on issues concerning stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, intimacy-related issues, and anger management

Stephanie is the second counselor that I was assigned to after I asked for a new counselor. The experience was night and day. She provided me with various ways in which I could participate, offered numerous resources to help me on my journey, and most importantly she listens to me. Stephanie created a space in which I felt safe enough to be open with who and what I truly am without judgement.
Another thing that I like about Stephanie , is that she provided me with relevant information that pertains to my issues outside of our counseling time. It blew my mind when she sent me an article that describe me and what I am going through to the “T”. I know that she will guide me in rediscovering myself.
