About me

My name is Steve Weiss and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Arizona. As an experienced therapist with years in the field, I am committed to my clients' journey of recovery from whatever is challenging or interfering with their quality of life. My clinical specialties are couples and family therapy, as well as individual counseling for life issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, stress management, and relationship difficulties. I also work with addiction and personality disorders. My clinical philosophy is to start where my clients are at; I understand that changes are difficult and ultimately a choice. My approach is to empower clients to look at their strengths and challenges, and assist them in deciding what changes they wish to make. I am also comfortable in working with clients whose faith is an important part of their lives. I strive to always be transparent and "clinically humble", and understand that the client is the expert regarding his or her life. Finally, therapy for me starts with the therapeutic relationship which I work to develop with all my clients, so we can develop a supportive, therapeutic, treatment environment.

Steve is the best combination of knowledgeable, humble, gentle, honest and supportive that someone could want in a therapist. His words are straightforward and catch me by surprise but I never feel put down in any manner. In just a few months I feel I’ve made more progress with him than a few years worth with other counselors. My favorite part about Steve is how efficient and effective he is. In 45 minute sessions I don’t feel there is a minute wasted, and he leads the conversation when I can’t. He is on a mission to help me and is clear about that, but also is patient enough to go at a pace that I’m comfortable with. Steve has mapped out a foundation to help me with my family, relationship, personal issues and understanding what I cannot control from my past. I feel I am much better off now while working with him and I have a tremendous advantage in my everyday life thanks to the skills he’s taught me and the new insight I have on what’s happened to me and how I can go about making a better future for myself. I would highly recommend Steve to anyone who wants to truly face their problems head on and make sure they’re confident with moving forward from their previous position in trauma. Something that stands out with Steve from other therapists is his lack of ego. When we have a major breakthrough it’s almost as if he doesn’t care to take full accountability, which makes me feel like my time with him is worth it. It’s refreshing to know someone can help me without bragging about it or expecting something in return. Major progression in a short time and I feel like I’m just getting started with him. He truly wants the best for others. 10/10!
