Steven Holland, LMHC
About me
Hello there! My name is Steven and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Indiana. I graduated with my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Ball State University in 2015. The majority of my work since then has been focused on youth and young adults who are having troubles with stress, family issues, or just need help understanding themselves and their emotions. Throughout my career I have also work with many families, couples, and individual adults who are experiencing a variety of mental health concerns. I have experience and training in cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, attachment theory, and motivational interviewing. Often these are mixed to find the best treatment for specific clients.
My treatment style tends to follow in line more with what the client needs. Working with young adults has given me a propensity to lean into more casual sessions, with some light, real world work to be done between meetings. My experience is that if a client is significantly uncomfortable in sessions, we will get nowhere. I strive to hit the sweet spot of uncomfortableness that is often necessary for seeing changes.
Because I feel that it is an important statement to make clear: my practice is always LGBTQ+ affirming.
