About me

Hello!
I've been a counselor for over 25 years. I have helped many through broken hearts, troubled marriages, victims of trauma and Narcissistic abuse, and healing from toxic behaviors and patterns. On this platform I only work on these issues and family systems (Inner Child work) to help you understand your patterns. I do not work with personality disorders, abusers, addictions, or eating disorders/body dysmorphia issues. If you are in an abusive/toxic relationship, you will need to agree to a "no contact for 30 days (to include no social media, etc." if you want me to work with you. I will not listen to you being abused.

PLEASE NOTE- You will be doing a lot of writing and expected to make consistent weekly appointments. I am highly invested in your journey, but only if you are dedicated in making yourself a priority.

I have a no non-sense, straight-to-the-point style that helps people want to see immediate results that will save you time and money. I also have a good listening ear and compassion to help sort out your issues, so you can feel supported and guided to be the best you can be. So, if you are interested in a fast track approach, really wanting to break bad habits and patterns that are re-playing in your life, and you are really ready to work yourself and address your issues (can handle feedback and constructive criticism), then I would be a good therapist for you. Also, be prepared to receive weekly assignments outside of our session time to help accelerate your growth. You will be doing a lot of journaling. In addition, I expect for you to check-in with me and for you to be honest. I'm very proactive in your healing and I guide you by setting goals and achieving them with you. We work together as a team on your journey.

Since I have been practicing for many years, I personally have ventured into studying spiritual practices to help others depression, anxiety, loss, grief, etc. I also can help you through inner child work wounding/trauma cords or known as "shadow work." As a result, I have studied meditation, shamanic practices, breathwork, law of attraction, etc. and feel that connecting to a higher power and getting in-tune with your spiritual core can assist in many struggles we face. I believe by connecting with our spiritual side and understanding our life lessons, we shift ourselves into higher learning and healing; which begins from a core level by breaking repeated negative patterns we continue to face.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Susan Lane. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Susan is very perceptive and able to identify feelings and issues that I have in my sessions through listening and guiding the conversation. I believe her method of having me write through her guided questions and then read what I wrote out loud to her during the sessions is very healing. She is able to tell by my voice if I am feeling emotional and focus on that. I think the meditations are also very healing. We have covered a lot in a short time because of her methodology.

Working extensively with Susan had totally changed my life. For years I struggled with insecurities and low self worth. My weak boundaries and people pleasing were crippling my personal growth. But from our very first session, Susan helped me turn this story around! I now practice reframing my thought patterns and re-parenting my inner child to move forward with empathy and joy.

Although I am only a few weeks in to my therapy with Susan, I already feel a huge shift within myself. I am more comfortable with myself, flaws included and I am more open and receptive to what I learn about myself during the homework. I have more grace and forgiveness for myself and I’m looking forward to see who I will be on the other side of putting the work in. Susan is a support system that will hold you accountable and acknowledge what needs to be addressed as well as compliment the positives in the process. I feel seen and understand and appreciate the amount of homework and accountability she requires out of you. She shows up for you while you show up for yourself and gives you a safe space to grow and learn and evolve into who you truly are meant to be.

After connecting with multiple therapists that I didn’t click with, I nearly gave up on therapy. Then I met Susan! She’s helped me through some childhood trauma that I didn’t realize was still affecting me today. Her approach is very holistic and she really hears what I have to say. She’s a wonderful therapist.
