About Me

I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist in California. I completed my master's degree in marriage and family therapy at Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary. I've extensive clinical experience working with adults who struggle, or have struggled with depression, anxiety, addiction, relationship dissatisfaction, phase of life issues, and existential crisis.

As your therapist, I will seek to understand you and validate you. I will provide you with a safe space to process your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Together, we will assess situations, evaluate options, and come up with the most effective approach to your problems.

My counseling style is warm and interactive. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, and dialectical behavior therapy theories. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your personal and specific needs. I also provide Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy virtually.

It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life. If you are ready to take that first step I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!

Sylvia has been wonderful. She not only is a great listener but has great feedback. Her approach to help process trauma is extremely helpful. It’s been a huge blessing working with her. Highly recommend!

Sylvia is amazing. I just switched to her from another therapist, and the difference is like night and day. She is a great listener and also provides feedback and "homework," which keeps me focused on the progress I'm trying to make. It's not just a venting session (like therapy has been for me in the past), it's actually helping me make strides.

She’s been really great listening to my feelings and has productive advice. She’s been good about not rushing things.

I know Sylvia is an excellent listener because her advice and recommended readings always correspond so well to my struggles. She has been instrumental in the rebuilding of my sense of self-worth. I can't thank her enough.

This was my first experience with BetterHelp and I am so pleased to have been matched with Sylvia. I picked up right away on her empathy and warm personality. I was nervous about “getting“ matched rather than choosing the therapist myself. But BetterHelp does a good job of asking plenty of clarifying questions upfront. And I don’t think I could’ve picked a better therapist myself for this season of life. Sylvia has really been a trusted sounding board during this whole Pandemic and the anxiety/isolation that go with it. That’s exactly why I went on BetterHelp and I have to say working with Sylvia has met and exceeded my expectations. I feel better, I get more done each day, and I just have a stronger sense of hope. How do you put a price on that?
