I am Tabatha Gunn. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) through the Texas State Board of Professional Counselors. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX and my Master’s Degree in Counseling at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, TX. I completed the certification process for LPC Supervision at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX.
I have been a licensed therapist for 10 years. I have a passion for working with trauma survivors (i.e. sexual abuse, physical assault, traumatic grief, etc.) and have done so for over 10 years . I generally work with adults. I am comfortable with people of various genders, ethnicities, orientations, and walks of life. I work full-time for a non-profit agency, Trauma Support Services of North Texas, and maintain my private practice part-time. I am also an LPC-Supervisor.
My therapeutic orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and use and subscribe quite a bit of Mindfulness and meditation strategies. All of that aside, I do not believe in a “cookie cutter” approach to therapy. I strive to tailor my approach to meet the needs of my clients. I also see therapy as a collaboration between myself and my clients. Yes, I am a professional therapist, and yes, I do have education and experience using various therapeutic techniques, however you are the expert when it comes to your experiences and perspectives. I think therapy is most effective when the client and therapist work together to meet the client's goals.

LPC #65439 (Expires: 2021-03-01)
I have been working with Tabatha for only a few short weeks but in that time she has given me the tools I needed to remember how powerful I am against my negative and anxious thoughts. She has truly helped to give me my power back after going through a few awful months of constant change. I am so thankful for these tools and seeing them come into play daily in my life. It’s amazing to feel confident that I can stay within my range of being functional all by myself after months of moving deeper into my depression and over anxious thoughts. Thank you is not enough!
Tabatha is so wonderful about listening to me and helping me view things from a different prospective. She really draws out of me my core concerns and helps me work through them, and makes sure that we don't forget what we were working on.
At first I was skeptical about online counseling session but I gave it a try. Mrs. Gunn has been Awesome since day one. We text a lot and she responded to all my text. When it was time for a live video. Mrs. Tabatha was warm very friendly and beautiful smile that made me feel like this is the Right Counselor for me. She made me understand "why my situation" in a way no one ever made me understand. She is awesome!!!
Tabatha has been a blessing to me in my life in a moment I felt like I was drowning in my problems. I cannot express how much she has helped me in just the few short sessions we have had. I strongly recommend her to ANYONE and absolutely everyone. I have had trouble finding a therapist that truly understands what I mean and what I’m seeking from my therapy. Tabatha knew it the second we started talking.
Caring, professional, and responsive. Makes something I find difficult (opening up and talking about me) a little less difficult.
Tabatha is a very empathetic and knowledgeable person. Her techniques are different than those of counselors I’ve tried before and I feel more comfortable with her because of them. I’m super thankful to have met her and have her to travel this journey with!
I only had a few short weeks with Tabatha Gunn, but they were a very good short weeks. I'm only sad I cannot continue counseling for longer (financial limitations) She was very thoughtful and attentive to what I was saying. I felt like I was being listened to and understood. I also felt like I was learning different ways to look at a situation and that's very good.
