About Me

Hello! My name is Tahna. Welcome to BetterHelp! I am a psychotherapist licensed in the state of Maryland where I have been working with individuals and families for over 11 years. I hold an MA in Counseling Psychology as well as national certifications in hypnosis and life coaching. I currently work in private practice and a college counseling center. I have had the honor of working with a diverse client population, assisting them with a number of issues including life transitional challenges, relationship struggles, anxiety, depression, health challenges and career concerns.

I am a person-centered therapist which means that everything we do will be a collaborative effort and my services will be tailored specifically to your needs and goals. My style of therapy is very relaxed and informal almost like speaking with an old friend. I am very integrative in my approach and utilize many therapeutic tools such as journal writing, challenging old and ineffective beliefs, affirmations, reviewing personal history and analyzing current relationships.

My areas of expertise include but are not limited to multicultural trauma, chronic pain, relationship counseling, coping with stress, and women's issues. I love my job and enjoy watching as my clients develop richer insight and employ new and more productive practices to reach their goals.

I am so excited and look forward to collaborating with you. Let's start building the life you want and deserve!

She’s a pleasant spirit who makes you feel at home. I appreciate the way she listens but most importantly provides sound perspective.

Tahna was a great help during a major change in my life. I needed someone to talk to... someone neutral to the circumstance. She helped me get a sense of direction. Having someone to talk to gave me confidence to keep going. Tahna is respectful and pleasant to talk to. Thanks Tahna!

Tahna has been a great help from the get go. She always has good advice and respects my wishes regarding which topic to discuss or not. I really appreciate that.

Tahna really helped me come to terms with a lot of things that I been struggling to acknowledge since I kept being subconsciously in denial over it. She helped me accept things and move on, and even offered many practical ways to cope. Even though I consulted her for a month, I feel immensely better than I did without counseling for most of my life.

Do this. If you’re here and looking, then take this step. You are worth it.

Tahna is very easy to talk to and extremely helpful. I just recently started seeing an online and in person counselor and I don’t have much experience prior to this, but I have been comparing my experience with regular in person therapy and online therapy and I find it easier to be myself with her because I’m not pressured internally to come off a certain way or anything. All her reactions and their effects on me are minimized due to the screen. It takes a lot of pressure away and makes it easier for us to come up with solutions together. I also have the liberty to be more descriptive and not feel the rush to confine my problems to an hour, like I do with my regular therapist. I think everyone should try this, because It might work for you and if it does, it will take your self improvement to a new level.

A great listener and offered wonderful insight on some things I hadn’t considered. I look forward to more sessions with her.
