About me

“ Life can give you lemons” is by far one of the greatest
Sayings that I like to live by. Not only is this a true statement, it a great analogy to describe some of the tough situations that we often encounter in life. Let’s be honest, life can throw us some serious curve balls that may be difficult to cope with. Often times you may feel alone and isolated during these difficult situations. You may feel that no one understands or is there to help you. You might find it difficult to talk to those around you for fear of judgement and abandonment, which is not an uncommon feeling. I’d like to be that support person to help you navigate through and develop coping skills to deal with these challenging situations. Whether it is a new life change, unexpected loss, family discord, caregiver burnout, postpartum mood disorders, new medical diagnosis, substance abuse issue or more, Id like to be the bridge from crisis to your baseline level of functioning. You don’t have to go at these situations alone. Allow yourself the opportunity to be vulnerable in a non-judgmental and non-biased space, which is what I can provide. Learn the coping mechanisms to not only deal with your current crisis but also other difficult situations as they may arise in our lives. I challenge you to change your perception about therapy and allow yourself to “not be okay” which is more “ normal” then you may think.

My name is Tammie Richards and I have been in the social work field for 6.5 years. I obtained my MSW from Grand Valley State University In 2015. Since that time, I have worked in the healthcare field as a social worker within the Trinity Health system. My experience includes medical social work/ case management which embodies every aspect of the role of a social worker. I have worked with patients from all areas of the life span from birth to geriatrics with a range of issues Including, CPS/APS, mental health, death and dying, substance abuse and so much more. Of the many things I have encountered during my time in medical social work, mental health seems to be my niche. I have had the opportunity to work with individuals when they are at the most vulnerable point in their lives seeking help. My passion is guiding these individuals through these challenging times and assisting them with obtaining their sense of normalcy. I pride myself on my integrity, professionalism, compassion and honesty. If you find yourself struggling in areas of your life that cause distress, please don’t hesitate to contact me for a consultation. One thing that I find to be vital within the therapeutic relationship is “fit”. If you feel that I can assist you during your life crisis and could be a good fit for your needs, please contact me. I look forward to supporting you through a transitional time in your life.
