I am Tanya Davis, Licensed Professional Counselor. I earned a Master’s of Science degree in Professional Counseling (Clinical Counseling). I have been providing therapy in various settings for over 10 years to individuals, couples and families. I’ve worked specifically in substance treatment facilities, with veterans and with college students. Throughout my career, I’ve conducted dozens of workshops and on self-esteem, mental toughness, LGBTQIA+ education and career development.
What I know about therapy?
Therapy can be hard because it should move you out of your comfort zone, but if you are willing to commit to the process, the reward will outweigh the temporary discomfort. As your counselor, I will be there with you as we work through the tough parts. Kudos to you for starting the process of finding the right fit for your counseling needs.
What do I believe about therapy?
Therapy validates your feelings when feelings had to be numbed, therapy helps to reintegrate pieces of yourself that have been shattered by hurt, therapy renews confidence in yourself so that you my go after the desires of your heart. Therapy rebuilds the toolbox that lies within yourself so that you can better cope with life’s challenges. Therapy is a mirror, a journey within the self with someone there to point out clues that help you understand your way. Therapy provides scaffolding until you can stand on your own.
How do I understand you and how do I help you?
I use an integrative approach for understanding you and helping you through your challenges. The basis of my understanding is a combination of Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which means I believe that our problems arise out of what we believe and what we tell ourselves about ourselves. Most of our issues come from using coping skills that used to serve us but over time may no longer be as useful as they once were. Those coping mechanisms that were so good to us may now be the thing that holds us back from what we seek.
When to seek therapy:
Feeling stuck, sad, worried, unfulfilled, grieving, hopeless, not quite right, an inability to make decisions, relationship problems, coping skills, self-exploration, growth, LGBT+ concerns.

I initially planned on working with Tanya for a few weeks but we clicked straight away and I found our sessions so helpful that I’ve stayed with her for over 10 months now. She helps me deconstruct difficult emotions and thoughts and is very understanding and professional. I like that it’s a 2 way conversation with Tanya as it feels less confrontational. I’ve really been able to understand myself better and the best thing is that I feel comfortable enough to tell Tanya anything without fear of judgement.
I connected almost immediately with Tanya and that's exactly what I was looking for in a counselor. Within 2 sessions I was feeling much better and had tangible things that I knew would help me on my journey.

I just started working with Tanya so I can only share on the initial stages of our work together. From our first exchanges, Tanya made me feel very comfortable and safe. She is easy to speak to, responsive and understanding. She manages being non-judgmental while also pointing at what needs to be worked on which feels both validating and empowering. Her attitude and our exchanges make feel enthusiastic and confident about doing a work which I was initially worried and reluctant to initiate, especially online. I would definitely recommend her.
Tanya is amazing. She listens to whatever is going on in your life and is very informative and easy to get along with. It’s never a one sided conversation and I can appreciate that. She genuinely cares about you and your well being. She takes the time out of her busy schedule to personally check in. I have tried counseling before and was not satisfied. I was a little nervous and skeptical about online therapy to begin with. However, I am glad I decided to try it. Tanya has been an absolutely blessing so far.
