Tara Beckett

About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Illinois. I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelors of Science in Human and Community Development and a Masters Degree in Social Work. My experience includes over a decade working with children, families and adults of all ages. I have worked in community mental health, hospital and school settings with individuals in emotional crisis to address immediate concerns related to depression and anxiety.

In addition to working with individuals to address goals to reduce depression and anxiety in their lives, I have worked with clients to address issues related to addiction, ADHD, Autism, anger management, compassion fatigue and family conflict resolution. My therapeutic approach is based on building rapport with each client to help them define their own goals for therapy. I use strategies from Cognitive Behavioral, Insight Oriented and Solution Focused Therapies to work with clients to help them identify areas of stress in their lives. I use a relaxed approach as well as direction when needed to help clients identify underlying issues of conflict. I work with individuals of all ages to use therapy as a means of changing negative thinking patterns into positive and mindful reflections directed at positive change.

Being a part of a person's change process is a truly rewarding experience and I look forward to working with you to make positive changes in your life.

She's definitely not afraid to point out things that I am doing that are defeating my personal goals but it's very clear that she honestly cares about me and meeting those goals. She's nice, thoughtful and offers me ideas, tips and suggestions to keep on track for the betterment of my mental health. I always look forward to our sessions.
