Tara Farrell

About Me

Hello. My name is Tara (pronounced: Tar-ah; pronouns: she/her) and I invite you to read some about me to see if we might be a good fit.

What I bring into the space is curiosity, deep regard, and loving-kindness. I believe that when folks are truly seen and appreciated, ease can be found, change can happen, and life can become enriched. I approach each interaction with an open mind and heart. I view the therapeutic relationship as one in which I set a container for you to explore within. I understand that some things are extremely difficulty to explore and we may never touch on them, but I am determined to create as safe a container as I can, allowing you to choose how deeply we delve and explore. I strive to employ a trauma-informed lens and a dedication to anti-racist and anti-oppression practices.

I received my masters in Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University, Seattle in 2013 after a 20-year career as a theatre & opera stage manager (which is astoundingly like being a therapist). Since graduation I have specialized in working with folks with profound trauma, especially folks with diagnosis of PTSD and Personality Disorders. I have worked in crisis-intervention with older adults in vulnerable situations. I am dedicated to assisting folks in developing a healthy relationship with consent and boundaries, which in the best of worlds will allow folks to step fully into living a life in which they can both identify their desires and have them met. I deeply value the exploration of self-identity and self-acceptance as a means of creating a fuller, richer life.

I welcome you to message me if you have any questions or are on the fence and would like to know more. You always have the option of selecting a different counselor if I’m not a good fit. One of the most important things to me is that each of you/us get to be in relationships which enhance our lives and I hope I can assist you in doing just that, whether that be with me as your counselor or someone else.

Be well.
