About me

I know that finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, especially when you're already struggling and in need of support. I believe that feeling seen and heard can serve as a powerfully reparative experience, especially in a space of non-judgment and acceptance. I am honored and committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment to help clients connect with themselves in an emotionally vulnerable, safe, and self-compassionate way. I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, utilizing a neuro-biologically focused approach that restores the authentic-self with self-regulation, wholeness, and a feeling of aliveness.
Somatic Experiencing supports discharging fight/flight/freeze response that becomes physically trapped in the nervous system and body tissue. I provide individual, group, marriage, and family therapy to children and adults struggling with attachment trauma, grief, displacement/migration, eating disorders, codependency, addictions, and PTSD.
I'm trained in EMDR, Creative Arts Therapy, Sound Healing, Jungian Theory, and Self-Compassion. I tailor to the needs and preferences of my clients to provide a space that nurtures safety, support, trust, and a capacity for emotional intimacy and vulnerability. Play and curiosity are at the heart of what I do and believe therapy can be an enjoyable process.

Tara is a wonderful therapist and working with her has done absolute wonders for me so far. With her help —particularly through her use of somatic approaches— I’ve been learning how to nurture feelings of safety and security within; how to allow space for my difficult and painful parts (thoughts, feelings and beliefs rooted in a largely repressed past) while remaining grounded and in touch with the neutral here and now. Over the last couple of months, I’ve gone from struggling with severe dissociative episodes, toxic shame/self-blame and suicidal ideation.. to no longer feeling so acutely helpless and hopeless, and actually developing a friendly relationship towards myself. I have a greater understanding as to WHY I struggle with the things I do, and this understanding has led to an increased ability for self-compassion and patience. Gradually, I am beginning to feel more like a whole person, and having only ever had a very fragmented, unstable sense of self, I can’t really describe how fundamentally life changing that is.
I still have work to do, but the healing that has taken place since meeting Tara is undeniable and, quite frankly, remarkable. I would wholeheartedly recommend her, especially if you struggle with childhood trauma and attachment issues.
