About me

I am licensed in Louisiana with 8 years of professional counseling experience. I have experience in helping clients with navigating challenges and changes to their lives, resulting from trauma and abuse, grief and loss, infertility, and major injury, pain disorder, and illness. Additionally, I am also experienced in assisting clients and patients with sleep disorders, motivational challenges, perfectionism, low or declining self-esteem, and confidence-related issues. I have done academic research, and have experience in treating, race related trauma, as well as different challenges resulting from race, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic issues. I believe in treating everyone with respect, dignity, sensitivity, and compassion. Given this belief, I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I also expect the therapeutic relationship to be mutually respectful. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life, to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you through that journey, providing techniques and offer guidance to be used even after therapy has reached its completion. I take my role as a therapist seriously, I love doing what I do. This does not mean that I am a perfect individual in the least. You are an expert on your own experience. I’m sure that you have many skills that you bring to the table that will lend themselves to your success. During this counseling relationship and interaction I hold myself accountable to providing you with with authenticity, and the best evidence based care that I can possibly provide. It is also my responsibility to inform you of limitations related to my scope of practice, should they arise. I only ask that if the time arises that you feel something is not working, or that I am not the right Therapist for your needs, that we discuss the issues respectfully and openly to resolve the issue promptly. The therapeutic relationship is often strengthened by working through difficulties, building a better alliance. However, if it is evident that I am not the best therapist for you and you would be better served by someone else, I will work to find the best fit available. There are almost always times during the therapeutic journey that one finds themself confronting difficult emotions, thoughts, and even changes to interpersonal relationships. This is not always comfortable, but growing pains are not always bad. I will be here to provide the best therapeutic support through these times, as you traverse the road to meeting your goal(s). Additionally, I’m a licensed nurse. While I won’t be giving medical advice or treatment during therapy, my knowledge as a nurse does inform the holistic approach that I practice. That means that I approach therapy with you and all aspect of your life, as well as influences that may impact your life, as a scaffold on which we will build the foundation and direction of our work. Based on your needs, therapy can be very dynamic and fluid.
