About me

Life isn’t always easy. Sometimes, we need some help to work through some of life’s more challenging problems. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in both Alabama and Mississippi. I have over 20 years of mental health and counseling experience working with individuals of all ages. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, DBT, Trust Based Relational Intervention and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. My passion is supporting individuals going through depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, ADD, life stressors, relationship issues, anger management and other mental or behavioral concerns. My counseling style is compassionate, eager to listen, non-judgmental and Christian based and interactive. I also utilize psychoeducation as well. I treat each client with dignity and respect and help my clients recognize their strengths and capabilities. As a social worker for 20+ years, I have been fortunate to utilize my professional skills and faith to guide people toward hope and healing. During life transitions, difficult circumstances and times of uncertainty, it is my hope to provide my clients with compassion and the tools needed to grow through challenges and achieve goals. I have enjoyed working with clients from early adulthood into the senior adult years. I consider it a privilege to help others begin their journey of healing and growth. I would welcome the opportunity to work with you!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Tay "Angie" Nielsen. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Mrs Angie is such a great therapist. This was my first time doing therapy and she made me feel so comfortable. I had many doubts about being able to open up but once we started, I couldn't shut up. Lol. She made herself available and allowed me to move at my own pace and always offered me other ways of doing sessions. I like that she gave me homework and info on how to function throughout my daily life. Definitely would recommend and she makes this experience 10 times better.

I’ve only had one session with Angie so far, but that one session was amazing and I look forward to many more sessions. She understands my concerns and gives advice and homework to help aid me in my work on my issues. I felt so connected with her after our session. I literally went to my mother-in-law and said, “I wish she could be my best friend, I love her.” She’s amazing and I would recommend her time and time again!!
