Tena Burnett, LPC
About me
Hi my name is Dr. Tena Burnett and I am a licensed professional counselor in Georgia. I have 16 years of experience in counseling and educating counselors. I finished my bachelor's and master's degrees at Auburn University Montgomery and my Ph.D. at the University of Arkansas. I have worked in community mental health, private practice, I previously owned a community practice serving 10 counties, and worked as a university professor - teaching and supervising master's level counselors. In the community setting, Most of the adults I have worked with was focused on work issues, relationship issues, self-identity, self-esteem and it's influences on other areas of life, stress management, and anxiety. In my community work, since the work focused mainly on children/adolescents/families (severe emotional disturbances and foster care system), the work with the adults of the household mainly dealt with their approach with their families, parenting, roles, balance, and stress management.
My approach to counseling, in laymen's terms, includes identifying thoughts and behaviors that slow down progress and create roadblocks to your growth and change and unnecessary anxiety, as well as complete a regular assessment of what is most important to you to continue a path of happiness, contentment, freedom to live in peace. I also think it is important to continually assess your goals and strengths, and work on a plan together to help you achieve and solve issues that brought you seek help. I do this through incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy and reality therapy (if you'd like to research it).

Absolutely love her!! She really listens to what I have to say about things and knows exactly what I mean when talking about things. She's really helped me dive deep into myself to find the root of my problems and I am loving having my live therapy sessions with her!!
