About me

I am a Licensed Relationship and Family Counselor/Therapist who has been helping clients for four years. I attended Capella University and received my Master of Science degree. One of the necessary components of a successful relationship, no matter what kind; whether it is a couple, same-sex couples, pre-marital, pre-cohabitation or blending new families, is respect. I also help people navigate the uncoupling of relationships, so that they can leave gracefully, help set up co-parenting, and moving on. At times I find myself in the role of a coach providing the encouragement and cheerleading that people need to succeed. Many of us have these inner narratives inside our heads that repeat negative or incorrect thinking. Together we try to find out what these are and come up with more positive approaches, correct or demystify a thought. I work with all couples, individuals, adolescents, children and groups. I also work with clients who are dealing with grief or depression by providing the ‘talk therapy’ component of their treatment. I have a personal understanding that helps me establish a trusting rapport with my clients.

I like to use Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Therapy involves being honest with yourself and the therapist. It takes a commitment from the client to provide the background information, history and explanations, so that together we can determine what issues you would like to work on. Then we can try implementing treatment, which may include changing behavior or challenge our previous thoughts. Clients come to therapy that are looking to change some behavior or understanding.

Clients can be in three different phases when they come to counseling. One is the thought that there may be an issue to acknowledge. Second, the client acknowledges the issue and seeks understanding. Finally, the client is ready for implementing a solution. I may see them go through one, two or all three phases. Sometimes, there is a gap between those stages. Where are you?

I have worked for a Fortune 100 company. I have been married for 35 years, and have successful and happy children. I am a tennis and pickleball player, read, kayak, and love laughing and hanging out with family and friends!

Look forward to meeting and working with you in a collaborative way!
