Hi! Welcome to my page and welcome to the first step in working towards your current goals and better mental health. I am a licensed clinical social worker with a specialization in human sexuality issues. I graduated from Widener University with a dual degree in social work and human sexuality education. I am currently pursuing my doctorate in human sexuality studies. I have experience working with a wide range of concerns including trauma and abuse, chronic illness including HIV, hepatitis, and diabetes, women's health (PCOS, infertility, etc), LBGTQ, depression, and anxiety. I've worked with young adults, adults, and the aging population.
I believe in a holistic approach to therapy. I believe that we all have the tools to empower ourselves, and my role is to help you best utilize those tools. I use an integrative approach to therapy and use modalities including psychodynamic, CBT, feminist, motivational interviewing, solution focused, narrative, and strengths based approaches. I truly believe that we all have a right to quality mental health care. You owe it to yourself to take good care of you!
A personal note about me - I find my own self care through attending concerts, painting, reading, and romantic comedies! I am an optimistic and believe in the natural healing powers we all have in ourselves. I look forward to working with you!
"Confronting our feelings and giving them appropriate expression always takes strength, not weakness. It takes strength to acknowledge our anger, and sometimes more strength yet to curb the aggressive urges anger may bring and to channel them into nonviolent outlets. It takes strength to face our sadness and to grieve and to let our grief and anger flow in tears when they need to. It takes strength to talk about our feelings and to reach out for help and comfort when we need it." - Fred Rogers

Tessa has been extremely helpful to me during some difficult times. She provides understanding, validation, and concrete help. I've been to therapy before, and had a hard time finding a good match. I was skeptical about getting the help I needed, but with Tessa, I've been able to see old problems in new ways, and finally make progress on bettering myself.
Tessa Fox is an amazing counselor. She is very attentive and cares truly about her clients. Tessa stood up by me on my very worst days and we worked together as a team to get better. She gave me a lot of insight and helped me with my anxiety and depression. I feel very lucky to get to work with Tessa. I recommend her to anyone who has issues with anxiety and depression. I love her holistic tips to cope with difficult life situations. She made me see life in a more bright sunny side than I have been in my past. Anyone who works with Tessa will realize that she is helpful, thoughtful, professional and a highly experienced therapist.
