Welcome! My name is Thea Rothmann. I am a licensed psychologist and have been practicing in the state of Minnesota for the last 14 years. I have worked largely in outpatient settings doing therapy and psychological assessment. I have worked with nearly every age group, every presenting issue, and every diagnosis in my practice over the years. I have worked with adults of all ages as well as older adolescents. I also work with couples.
My master's and doctoral degrees were both completed at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and there I was trained largely to provide therapy from a cognitive-behavioral perspective. My doctoral internship was completed through the VA and there I learned valuable skills working with trauma and neuropsychological injuries and disorders. The last 15 years of my career have been spent in community mental health centers developing a more generalist practice. I provide therapy to adolescents, adults and couples with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, relationship conflicts, addiction problems, mood disorders, OCD, ADHD, and psychosis. I continue to use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) strategies including newer waves of CBT models like Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in my practice. I am also familiar with Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Exposure and Response Prevention.
I provide client-centered care based on evidence-based strategies. I feel grateful to have the opportunity to witness and be present to each person's vulnerability and growth in the therapy setting. The most rewarding part of my work I have found is helping people to undo the shame that they have carried. I look forward to holding space for your own progress towards your goals and consider it a privilege to share that work with you.

I am so thankful that I found Better Help, and Dr. Rothmann was paired with me.
