Multiculturally aware, bilingual, independently licensed mental health therapist who understands that compassion and relationship building are at the core of the healing process. I am a trauma-informed, dialectical, and person-centered clinician who believes in both practical and deeply, emotionally based healing processes. I am a graduate of John Carroll University and have 9 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have worked with clients in various community mental health settings with problems ranging from situational life stress to severe mental illness. Some special interests include: PTSD and trauma related disorders, anxiety disorders, life transitions, parenting issues, existential issues, couples counseling and personality disorders. I have also completed multiple research projects focusing on anxiety and the efficacy of different treatment modalities. I possess the skills, expertise and compassion to help individuals with a wide range of issues or concerns. I take a person-centered approach, where I work on building a strong therapeutic relationship with each client in order to help them reach their greatest potential and work towards reaching their goals. I believe that connection and relationship are the two foundations to personal growth. The strength of the relationship is based on my ability to maintain a non-judgmental, trusting and validating environment for the client while encouraging growth. My techniques include an integrative approach, combining multiple techniques, with an emphasis on Mindfulness-based techniques and DBT skills.

Life reminds me of an iceberg. The tiny portion that is visible to the eye is nothing compared to what lies beneath the surface. Through my experiences I have helped chisel ice in order to assist individuals to reach the goals and change negative thinking into something more positive. I have experience with different modalities of therapy. These include PTSD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, or trauma experienced during childhood. I graduated with honors from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY, and have been in private practice for 17+ years. I have and will continue to invest my time and experience to help those who want to seek additional help navigating this world and create coping skills to improve each individual's life experience.

Hi! My name is Russell or Rusty or Russ, whichever you prefer. My approach is casual, but also rooted in science. Like an astronaut might say they “always knew they wanted to be an astronaut”, I’ve always known I wanted to be a therapist. I’ve studied the more interesting psychological treatment approaches, like humanistic theory, motivational and mindfulness based approaches, but graduated from a rigorous Psychology program rooted in the science of Cognitive Behavioral Theory. My Master's degree is a Master’s of Science in Social Work. I believe that there’s a framework that fits everyone and every problem, but that good outcomes are rooted in a good therapeutic rapport as well as an approach that actually works. Let’s let your challenges guide our treatment approach, I’m here to listen and help you solve! Philip Bloomer
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. I offer therapy for people of all ages and all mental health and substance use difficulties, in whatever combination they occur. I have also helped couples and families work out their problems. As a social worker I look at every area of life, believing that where we live, our physical wellness, our relationships, the way we think, our past, the emotions we experience, what gives our lives meaning and purpose and often so many other factors all play a part in making our lives what they are, so the treatment I offer looks at all of these. Everything we talk about is strictly confidential, allowing us to talk about anything and everything. I never judge and you can expect me to be honest and truthful with you. I absolutely believe in the potential for everyone to experience a positive change in their life. I use a number of different therapeutic styles many of which include helping people manage their problems, figure out what is really important to them, work out what they want from life and what they can do to move them towards their hopes and dreams. I am an American citizen but was born and spent the first 30 years of my life in England and I still retain much of my accent. My first career was working for the British government. I returned to school and obtained my Master’s degree in Social Work at the age of 40. As well as academic and theoretical knowledge, I draw on a broad range of life experiences including having had my own personal struggles with both mental health problems and substance use. At present I offer standard office hour appointments, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm, although I have accommodated individual scheduling requirements in the past. Our initial visit includes a lot of information gathering to help me better understand what I can do to help you. I look forward to meeting you, hearing your life story and helping you write the next chapter.
