Evan Matheney
I’ve dedicated my career to helping children, adolescents, and families navigate life’s challenges with compassion, connection, and evidence-based care. My journey in mental health began as part of a home-based therapy team, where I specialized in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). This experience allowed me to guide families in strengthening their bonds and developing effective parenting strategies. Later, I transitioned to an early childhood mental health team, where I trained in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), a trauma-focused approach that helps children and caregivers heal together. Over the years, my work has expanded to include a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Existential Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Family Systems Therapy. I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, adolescents, and families in diverse settings—from providing intensive home-based therapy and crisis intervention to supervising clinicians and leading mental health programs. Currently, I own and operate my own counseling and consulting practice, where I provide therapy, professional trainings, and business development support. Previously, I served as a Program Manager for Maternal Mental Health within a public health organization, overseeing clinical programs to ensure high-quality care, compliance, and continuous improvement. Before that, I worked as a Clinical Supervisor for a nonprofit mental health agency, providing guidance to clinicians, facilitating training, and ensuring effective service delivery. I know that seeking help isn’t always easy, and I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, heard, and valued. I believe deeply in the power of relationships and the incredible capacity for growth and change within each individual. Whether working with children, caregivers, or fellow professionals, my goal is always to foster connection, understanding, and meaningful transformation. If you're looking for support, guidance, or just a place to be understood, I’m here to help.
