“You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” -A.A. Mine Thanks for clicking on my page! Often in the hectic pace of everyday life we may not feel there is time to address things we are currently facing. Counseling is an excellent way to designate a time, with the assistance of an unbiased professional, to assist you in reaching your goals. The goal of therapy is to feel good, not only about yourself, but the life you are living. Life can get complicated, so having someone in your corner can be helpful. Therapy also allows one to view things through a different lens. This new perspective can get us to make changes, or view things differently, which can be key to making long-term changes or impact. I view counseling is a collaborative, dynamic process, based on the therapeutic alliance between therapist and client. Through careful assessment of client concerns, I tailor the therapeutic approach to the specific needs of each individual. My approach to counseling is both direct yet warm and non judgmental with every client. I am gentle in my approach to make sure the client feels heard and validated. I employ a variety of diverse therapeutic approaches. These techniques include Person-Centered, CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, DBT, MI. My personal philosophy is based on the idea that counseling is most effective with genuine, honest, and open communication. I believe we are all worthy of respect and that is important in the counseling relationship. I hope to dive deeper into what is going on in your life, and get you back on track. Hopefully you will leave each session feeling better and with some new tools and workable takeaways. I am excited to be with Betterhelp to begin working with those in need of healing. When I am not in session, I like to fill free time with family & friends. I love exploring the outdoors, staying active (with spin, weightlifting & yoga) and traveling. I have a passion for volunteering with at risk populations in my city and am an avid animal rescuer/advocate. You have made a big first step in your journey, I look forward to hearing from you! Feel free to contact me below to set up your first session, take care!

I have been a Licensed practicing therapist for 7 years. My approach is to treat the whole person. I am also a Holistic Nutritionist, Hypnotherapist and Life Coach. I believe the most successful treatment can be attributed to two important factors. The first is understanding how the mind, body and spirit connects; as the mind and body are not separate and to treat the mind the body must also be treated and vice versa. The second is in understanding and healing the roots of the past. I specialize in Trauma Therapy and am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming (EMDR) and believe the root of most issues lies in the past. Understanding how past beliefs affects your present circumstances and through understanding and identifying your values and beliefs is the second important element of healing. I work with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety disorders, panic, personality disorders, mood disorders, trauma including PTSD, and list of other issues and challenges. I enjoy counseling and educating my clients. My approach is eclectic and integrative style of psychotherapy. I adapt my sessions to the unique needs of each specific client, depending on the problem, the client's expectations, treatment goals and motivation. Some of the common forms of therapeutic techniques I use includes: Cognitive Behavioral Techniques, Dialectical Behavioral Techniques, Solution Focused Techniques and EMDR and Exposure therapy. I understand that no two people are alike and each client needs to be dealt with individually. I believe every person is a miracle and every person has an unlimited potential. I feel it is important to help each person understand their worth. Every person is important and deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. I believe it often takes courage to get help and if you are ready to take that step, I am looking forward to working with you.

Hello and welcome! My name is Erin Wilson and I have been working in the mental health field for 10 years. My passion for this field is rooted in personal experience. As a person who participates in therapy, I believe sharing some of the same experiences as those I work with provides a genuine authenticity in my ability to be present for the people I am honored to help. I believe therapy can be empowering, fun and healing at the same time. I started my career providing Hospice services. Then I moved to substance abuse treatment, next working with families and children. Before moving to telemedicine, I worked as a supervisor helping other therapists work toward their goals. Looking back, I must say I am so grateful and honored to have grown from such a variety of experiences with so many amazing people. In session what you can expect from me? I will be dedicated to assisting you in discovering inner strengths and finding ways to bring forth your strengths in practical ways so you can succeed in meeting your goals in life. I see my role as someone who is there to listen non-judgmentally and provide unconditional acceptance. When asked, I can share my perspective in a way that is helpful to your unique needs. My goal is to create an environment where you feel comfortable exploring yourself. Some people benefit from learning specific techniques and/or homework assignments between sessions and I can provide those. Others may prefer not to have homework and that is okay. By working together, I believe we can create a therapeutic relationship that works best for you. I will inquire for feedback about what the session was like for you and be open to making any changes I may need to make sure therapy is as helpful as possible. In sessions what do I expect of you? For therapy to be effective, I believe honesty and an openness to perceiving yourself and life in new ways is essential. Through the years I have seen people who make different choices in how they live life outside of the session as the most successful. In my view, it is the power of the relationship we build together that makes a way for discovery, learning, healing and positive change to happen. My journey in the therapy field has provided many miraculous experiences being a part of positive change in the lives of others. I hope to have the opportunity to be a part of this process with you!

Welcome! My name is Maria, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Mississippi and Arizona with over 25 years of experience working in the mental health field. I am also a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Therapist and Certified Addictions Therapist in the state of Mississippi. I have BA degree in Psychology and a MS degree in Clinical Psychology from Mississippi State University. I also have an Ed.S. degree in Educational and Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri. I have experience with both adults and adolescents. I have worked with an array of client populations and concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, substance abuse and recovery issues, trauma, self-esteem, bipolar, and schizophrenia. Life is often full of challenges, which ebbs and flows with each chapter of life. I am here to support, empower, and guide you on the journey that is uniquely yours, and one in which you are the author. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to support your self-discovery, dreams, and aspirations and to help you live your best life on your own terms. People seek counseling for a variety of reasons. I realize that some people may only need a sounding board and support from their counselor. Some people solely need the processing element from a counselor to increase their confidence in decision-making skills and make sense of life’s happenstances. While for others, it proves to be a safe, confidential space to vent, which proves cathartic in its own right. For some individuals, it may be candid advice, perspective, and goal-directed solutions to pressing problems. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific goals. I realize that counseling can seem intimidating for some, so I will work with a format and at pace with which you are most comfortable. My counseling style is down-to-earth, warm, and empathetic. I believe in meeting a person where they are in guiding them along their journey. I believe every person has intrinsic value and worth, and I treat everyone with dignity, respect, and compassion. I also favor a person-centered, individualized approach that embraces self-determination, empowerment, and resiliency. I value holistic care, which seeks to improve overall wellness and health. My approach is eclectic in nature and combines person-centered, strength-based, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, brief solution-focused, mindfulness, and reality therapy. Additionally, I may assign worksheets from time to time to promote introspection and insight. I applaud you for being here today and your quest to improve your overall well-being and happiness. It takes courage and strength to seek a more fulfilling life and to contemplate change. When you are ready to take that next step, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you on your journey!

Understanding the type of therapy you'd like to search for is crucial before finding a therapist or psychologist in Lake Havasu City. Perhaps you're interested in narrowing your search for a psychotherapist that can offer psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), talk therapy, provide group therapy, marriage and family therapy for individuals or couples, or couples therapy. Each type of therapy can offer various benefits and address or treat different disorders. If you're still unsure or are new to counseling in Lake Havasu City, feel free to contact the provider via email to find out which methods they practice.

It is also important to understand that mental health professionals in the United States are accredited to provide care, helping individuals and couples, with a variety of licenses. These include licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), and clinical psychologist or doctor of psychology (PsyD). Regardless of their licensure, they are trained to treat individuals and couples counseling, and sometimes children, in any type of therapy. Find a therapist under any of these distinctions and know that the sessions they offer can provide a safe place to heal.

Mental health professionals working through their own in- person therapy practice in Lake Havasu City or online may assist clients in improving healthy relationships, communication skills, working through life transitions, managing a mood disorder, improving coping skills, or change in negative thinking patterns. They may also provide a safe place and validation for clients experiencing emotional pain. Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Some other commonly asked questions on therapy with a licensed counselor and BetterHelp serving the Lake Havasu City area can be found below:

How does the cost of in-person counseling compare to the cost of BetterHelp with a licensed Lake Havasu City therapist?

The average price of an in-person therapy session in the US is $100 to $200 per hour. These prices may be higher in Lake Havasu City due to a higher cost of living. The price also depends on the type of provider you are looking for. See the following average prices for various mental health providers without insurance:

  • Counseling with a psychiatrist: $150-$500
  • Counseling with therapists: $100-300
  • Therapy with a psychologist: $100

While many psychologists in Lake Havasu City may not take health insurance, some in the state of Arizona may work on a sliding scale, meaning they'll factor in your income and charge what you can afford per session. How is a licensed therapist on this online therapy platform verified?

All of these psychology clinicians have a Masters Degree or a Doctorate Degree in their field of psychology sciences, and follow the APA Code of Ethics. They have been qualified and certified by their state's professional board after successfully completing the necessary education, exams, training and practice with a patient, and extensive experience in a healthcare clinic or treatment centers, in order to become a mental health provider. While their lived experience, expertise, careers, and background vary, they all possess at least 3 years and 1,000 hours of hands-on experience with adult and sometimes teen patients, and have the necessary therapist credentials to provide a safe space for long lasting emotional healing in therapy.

Please note BetterHelp does not offer or provide care from psychiatrists to prescribe a drug as treatment, or perform psychological assessments.

How does working with a counselor in BetterHelp online therapy sessions work?

You can also try a Lake Havasu City therapy provider through BetterHelp's sister platform, ReGain, which is dedicated to couples and spouses worldwide.

How do I know if online counseling is right for my family?

One of the potentially rewarding aspects of working with a therapist is the validation and active listening they can provide. Your friends and loved ones may also be available to listen, but you may feel that they may lack the skills to provide objective guidance. Counselors are trained to respond to various concerns, symptoms, and mental health conditions.

A psychologist in your city can support you toward a healthier emotional state, regardless of your mental health, life concerns, or healing needs. While supporting individuals in developing healthier habits, another good benefit of therapy is having an understanding, safe space with a non-judgmental party who can support you through challenging experiences.

Many people have sensitive topics that they may feel ashamed to discuss with their friends or partner. A Lake Havasu City therapist can help you confront these concerns and open up through unique methods of support. There are also many types of therapy, such as art therapy, where you may find you can express yourself through creativity instead of words.

With a lot of people in AZ, providers may be booked out with clients. Through the list of profiles above and others within BetterHelp's team, you may be able to find a psychologist within 24 to 48 hours. If you're searching to find a a nearby psychotherapist close to 86404 or the surrounding zip codes, consider others available through the BetterHelp site. No matter if you are seeking help in your area or beyond, online therapy can be a great option.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Lake Havasu City counselor?

Before seeing your therapist, prep for your session by reading to understand the therapy process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, let them know if you have any concerns about therapy or feel unsure about what to talk about. They may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn why you're attending therapy.

Should I find a therapist or psychologist if I feel fine?

Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what therapy entails. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback and advice. A Lake Havasu City licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find through therapy can be dependent on your process.

People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles.

Is mental health care and therapy worth it?

Therapy is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. A psychologist can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health professional has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based psychologist in Lake Havasu City, Arizona can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.

Lake Havasu City has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online therapy to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change therapists easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.

Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions?

The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
