Hello and welcome. My name is Tara and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Arizona. Counseling any person, no matter where they have come from, or what challenges they are struggling with, is my passion. I enjoy helping people achieve what they desire in this life. Whether it is to have a better marriage, learn how to deal with depression, less anxiety with every new situation that arises, or parenting struggles, I can help. I love helping people to be the very best versions of themselves and giving them the tools to help with varying hurdles in life. Life can be so tough, and seeking counseling is a very brave first step and I am so grateful you came here. We all go through hills and valleys in life, but it's so much better to go through those valleys when you have the right tools in which to deal with the tough times. Life is a gift. Counseling is a gift and I hope to be able to help you with your journey. A little about me. I grew up a military kid and was able to travel the world with my family, which came with some wonderful experiences and also some challenges of having to adjust quickly to different settings. Along the way I met a lot of great people and had the opportunity to learn family dynamics, and cultures from a very young age. I am grateful to have had to change and move throughout my childhood so that I could end up in this field where I can truly help so many different kinds of people, no matter their background, or what struggles they are going through. I received my bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University. I then went on to receive my Masters degree from Argosy University in Phoenix, Arizona. My counseling approach is mindfulness training, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution focused brief therapy. I believe we all have the ability to get where we want to go, but sometimes we need a little help along the way.

I received a PhD in Counseling Psychology in 1988. My clinical experience has included work in psychiatric hospitals, managed care agencies and private practice. I see adults individually and in marriage/relationship counseling. My clients have, in addition to other problems, presented with depression, anxiety, interpersonal issues, stress, mid and later life adjustment, grief, life plan development, and self esteem. I believe counseling happens best on a level playing field. The participants share ideas and discover solutions. There is cooperation, synergy and mutuality of purpose. We begin by mapping what is causing your problem, or areas you want to enhance in your life. Next, we look at psychological and behavioral change. What changes are indicated and how are they best achieved. Finally, we look at how to establish and maintain change . If you would like us to talk, please proceed with an appointment. I look forward to hearing from you. I check messages in the morning and evening. I will respond within 24 hours. Thanks...

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed in Arizona. I have been practicing for sixteen years and own a counseling practice in Surprise, AZ. Today you are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being. As a licensed professional counselor, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. I specialize in individual, couples, and family counseling. I also focus on adolescent and young adult issues and have extensive experience in this area. As a bio-psycho-social-spiritual counselor, I believe in treating the whole person. I work from a Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance/Commitment Therapy, and Family Systems approach to counseling. Psychotherapy requires an active effort and commitment from the client, this is important in order to most effectively identify areas of concern and desired treatment goals. Counseling is an exploration of deep, personal life issues and areas of one's life that may have been buried for any number of reasons. If you are ready to reclaim true control in your life or ready to redefine who you are and where you would like to go in life, schedule an appointment with me.

Find a therapist near you in Maish Vaya, Arizona

Finding a therapist near you in Maish Vaya, Arizona starts with matching to a licensed professional who fits your needs, schedule, and goals. Arizona is home to people with diverse mental health needs across urban, suburban, and rural communities, which can make it challenging to find care. BetterHelp connects you with a licensed therapist through tailored matching, so you can begin care from home or wherever works for you.

The network includes over 30,000 licensed therapists globally, and over 4 million people have used BetterHelp to find support through online therapy. During matching, 93% of user preferences are met, which helps you connect with a therapist suited to what you are looking for. Whether you are searching for help with anxiety, trauma, affordable or insurance covered therapy, weekend or flexible scheduling, or virtual sessions, you can find a therapist and get started when you are ready.

Why work with a licensed therapist near you?

Working with a licensed therapist near you gives you access to professional mental health support from someone trained to help you understand and manage what you are going through. A licensed therapist can offer evidence-based approaches, a steady space to talk, and guidance tailored to your situation. In Arizona, online therapy can make that care more accessible, since sessions happen from home or wherever you are, without the need to travel to an office. This can help if your schedule is full, if travel is difficult, or if you simply prefer a more discreet setting. You can learn more about what a therapist does on the therapist role page.

Online therapy can be especially helpful for people living across Arizona, where access to in-person mental health care may vary by location.

What concerns can therapists help with?

Therapists can help with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety and stress, depression, trauma and PTSD, self-esteem and identity, people-pleasing and fear of rejection, insomnia and racing thoughts, workplace stress and burnout, substance use, parenting and co-parenting stress, grief and loss, and relationship and family challenges. Therapists on BetterHelp may draw on approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), depending on your needs and goals. You can explore support for specific concerns on pages such as generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and eating disorders.

Please note that therapists on BetterHelp do not provide psychiatric medication management or formal diagnoses.

Online therapy vs. in-person therapy in Arizona

Online therapy and in-person therapy both connect you with a licensed professional, and the main difference is how you meet. In Arizona, online therapy through BetterHelp lets you have sessions by phone, video, or in-app messaging, so you can meet from home or on a schedule that fits your life. In-person therapy takes place at an office and may involve travel and set appointment windows. Online therapy may be more accessible for people with busy schedules, limited transportation, or a preference for a more discreet setting. Both formats can support meaningful progress, so the right choice often comes down to what fits your life.

Finding a therapist that accepts insurance in Arizona

BetterHelp accepts insurance through many major insurance plans. Insurance availability and coverage may vary by state, plan, provider network, and therapist availability, and deductible status. Eligible members' average copay is $23 per session.

If you prefer to pay without insurance, BetterHelp subscriptions range from $70 to $100 per week, billed as an alternative way to access the same care, and you can use HSA and FSA funds toward the cost.
