Hi. My name is Sandra DeCarolis and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor in Colorado. I have worked with a variety of clients ages 16 - 100 that present with a variety of issues and concerns including but not limited to: trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar, mood disorders and substance abuse. Or, they may be dealing with communication issues, self-esteem or social anxiety problems. I am integrative in my approach to therapy in that I utilize Person Centered, Solution Focused, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies to assist during the sessions; whatever feels appropriate. My treatment approach is based on developing a therapeutic relationship with the client that has its foundation in trust. I will also utilize your strengths to help you achieve your desired changes and treatment goals. I believe people have enormous potential and it is my desire to help them achieve the happiness, wholeness and the balance they desire in their lives by facilitating awareness and by introducing them to a variety of coping skills that they can utilize in times of duress. Benjamin Wayburn
The issues I work with in therapy are mind-body issues. I do not have a mental illness approach. What is good for the body is good for the brain and vice versa. My openness and inclusivity influence my approach to therapy. I do not judge. I accept. I am more interested in your uniqueness than your diagnosis and I expect a full recovery in treatment. I fit well with expectations from a person who is here on their own volition, is willing and open to change, and is trying to develop resiliency in life, problem-solving without drama in relationships, and self-respect. I try my best to provide a secure space and collaborate. I take notes and I read them at the end of the session. As opposed to homework, I offer experiments to try between conversations. Depending on preference, I can be direct in helping people identify their goals by collaborating on a treatment plan. I can also be non-direct and identify our goals through the flow of the conversation. A first session with me begins with a casual greeting and formalities regarding confidentiality, rights, and risk assessment questions, followed by a lead-in question to get the ball rolling.

Why work with a licensed therapist near you?

Online therapy vs. in-person therapy in Colorado
Online therapy and in-person therapy both connect you with a licensed professional, and the main difference is how you meet. In Colorado, online therapy through BetterHelp lets you have sessions by phone, video, or in-app messaging, so you can meet from home or on a schedule that fits your life. In-person therapy takes place at an office and may involve travel and set appointment windows. Both formats can support meaningful progress, so the right choice often comes down to what fits your life.
