Hello! Let me tell you a bit about me. I have worked in the mental health field for 25 years. I am a licensed mental health counselor licensed in Massachusetts and have a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Framingham state University. I have worked in a outpatient mental health clinic, home based therapy, a day treatment hospital and several school settings. My belief is the therapeutic bond of client and therapist is most significant throughout therapy. I believe strongly in the active participation of the client in his or her therapy. It is your therapy, it is all about You! The client needs to be heard and validated. The client needs to explore his or her feelings in the safest most comfortable setting. I have found The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with aspects of the Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy work well with the client who is a active participate in their therapy. I encourage mindfulness and physical exercise throughout my therapy. As a therapist, I am never stuck on one therapy that is not helpful. I will pull elements from the Emotion Focused Therapy as well as the Narrative Therapies. My aim is to find just the right appropriate therapy for each unique client. The goal of Therapy is to help YOU explore You!!! The end goal for each client is to find peace and emotional stability. The client needs to feel comfortable in his or her own skin. I have a history of working in individual, family and couple therapy. My clients have often exhibited anxiety, depression, trauma as well as dealing with life issues, divorce, death of a loved one, suicidal ideation and relationship issues. As therapy progresses my client have verbalized a increased self esteem. The client recognizes and gains an understanding of his feelings which leads to greater contentment.

Sometimes, the things that aren't working in our lives require altering something that we'd prefer not to let go of. Very often it's an idea or perception that needs to be released, and it's important to gain an awareness of the thoughts that maintain troublesome behaviors. As an advanced graduate of a transformation-oriented counseling program, I have gained skill in helping people to release stuck patterns of thinking and behavior. I primarily use Mindfulness, a form of thought reframing called "Reality Therapy", Focusing, and Psychosynthesis counseling to assist clients. Let me tell you a little about these latter two techniques. Focusing is a body-oriented practice that you can learn to do for yourself. It involves tuning in to deep levels of bodily sensations and accurately naming them, familiarizing yourself with a felt sense of the problem areas. Psychosynthesis is a post-Jungian approach to therapy work. The goal is to become aware of different, sometimes conflicting parts of your personality, to help them communicate and cooperate with each other. All parts of the personality are seen as having value, and this leads to acceptance of your self as a whole and diverse being. I have worked with people from all walks of life, different ethnicities and cultures, and make room for everyone's point of view. My practice is grounded in Buddhist philosophy, but I don't push anyone to learn or practice that particular view of reality. Here's the nitty gritty: I have a degree in cultural anthropology from Tufts University, a master's in social work from the University of Connecticut, and an advanced certification in counseling from The Synthesis Center in Amherst, Massachusetts. I have a special interest and many years of study in self-care, including nutrition, sleep hygiene, and other ways of embodying wellness.
