Hi! I have over ten years of experience in both in and outpatient treatment settings with adults, adolescents, and children with dual diagnosis of mental health and substance abuse. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of New Jersey and North Carolina, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist in the state of North Carolina, National Certified Counselor, and Master Addiction Counselor. I earned my Master’s degree from East Carolina University in 2010. My clinical experience has focused on substance abuse, anxiety/ stress management, trauma/ abuse, interpersonal relationship issues, and depression. I have experience working with those overcoming symptoms of personality disorders and the devastating impact these symptoms can have on an individual and their relationships with others. Services I offer include motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, person centered, and gestalt therapy. I feel that incorporating techniques from multiple theories benefit each client to provide the most effective and personalized counseling experience. It is my belief that developing rapport with an individual is essential to the therapeutic relationship. After rapport is developed I focus on awareness of the here and now and how making changes in thoughts and behaviors can be beneficial in the client’s life. I often focus on assisting clients to focus on solutions to problems or concerns he or she is having, setting goals, and encouraging you, the client, to decide what solution is best for you. I am honored to be a part of each individual’s journey that I have been able to witness and I look forward to assisting you in your journey to wellness!

Hello there, I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of NC. As a helping professional for more than 20 years, my experience is quite diverse and comprehensive. In the field of mental health and wellness, I have functioned in the capacity of Mentor, Educator, Foster/Adoptive Parent and Counselor. I have coached individuals on living, social skills, how to effectively resolve problems and interact with the community as a whole. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. Life experiences often disrupt our sense of wholeness, leaving us feeling unable to find our way back to ourselves. When this happens, our lives and our relationships can become difficult, or even unbearable. Our work together is one of helping you to reunite with that core wisdom within yourself, so you can experience more love, connection and happiness that is innately yours. Together we will develop a deep knowing of who you are and what you stand for. Working together, we will identify and shift patterns that are blocking you from fully experiencing and living a life worth living. As a highly compassionate, empathetic, patient, respectful and committed individual, I understands it takes courage and time in taking those steps towards this type change. So, if you are ready to take that first step, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!

Hello, I’m Veronica McKay and I’ve spent the past thirty years as a practicing Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I’ve worked in the United States and Germany. I recently retired but find that I still have the time and desire to help people looking for answers and guidance when life’s waters become turbulent. My experience ranges from treating children with emotional and developmental issues to assisting adults with issues of anxiety, depression and surviving the trauma of sexual assault. In 2008 I began working with the military, treating active duty military returning from combat and helping their families cope with and understand the soldiers’ struggles. I spent eleven years working with service members and military families facing all the problems that often accompany long family separations and combat tours, from PTSD to substance abuse to shifting domestic management stress. I have been trained and practiced in EMDR for treating PTSD, and in 2017 was trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy. In my career I have worked as an on-call mental health evaluator for emergency behavioral health and substance abuse services. I currently work with several veteran’s organizations in continuing the work I did with active duty soldiers. I welcome the opportunity to work with you in identifying your personal goals and assisting you in the process of moving forward in your life.

Hello, I am a dually licensed clinician in NC. Everyone should know what it's like to feel Lovable, Capable, and Worthwhile. Instead of narrowing in on individual problems, psychotherapy considers overall patterns, chronic issues, and recurrent feelings. This requires an openness to exploring the past and its impact on the present. Psychotherapy resolves the underlying issues which fuel ongoing complaint/distress. I will work to get you on your way to wellness. Serving all of NC, I have 20+ years in working with children and adults in numerous settings. I am comfortable working with strong feelings, traumatic memories, and personal struggles. Building the therapeutic relationship with you is the most important piece of the therapy process. Whether working with our military, cancer patients, foster children, medical social workers; or You, it's my honor. You are your own best expert. Together we can work to understand your needs and how to address them to progress on the goals we create together. Psychotherapists help to resolve past experiences as part of laying the foundation for a satisfying future. Change is hard even when we want to do it. Every thought/behavior has a reason. Let’s understand yours.

Anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and trauma are all issues that keep a person from living the life that they truly want to live; or keep a couple from connecting on a level that maybe they use to; or keep a family from relating and understanding each other. Whatever issues arise, I pride myself in helping people navigate through these issues which can help them create and step into the life they desire. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and completed my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Mercer University in Atlanta and received my Bachelor’s in Psychology for University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My passions include helping couples, families, and adults who may be struggling with a variety of issues. Counseling is nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone needs help at some point in life. I would be honored to assist you on your journey to a fulfilling life.
