Donna Cummings
Hello! My name is Donna Cummings and a I am Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate. I received my Master's Degree in 2015, after having worked in the mental health field for 9 years. I have experience working with addiction issues, depression, anxiety, building life skills, and promoting self esteem, self compassion, and other self worth behaviors. I utilized Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy. I believe in providing support, compassion, and therapies, as well as understanding diversity and cultural awareness in assisting my clients in reaching your life goals. I also provide life coaching to clients who do not feel they need therapy, just someone to talk to and work on life skills and other topics. I began my career in mental health after realizing the lack of mental health services available in my community. I feel that there is a need and that everyone deserves to be able to access these services that can enhance their daily living activities and self care. I also feel that there needs to be a move towards normalizing counseling and removing the stigma historically associated with counseling . I will provide a confidential and nonjudgmental setting to assist you in moving towards your goals. I look forward to working with you.

I have worked in the human service field for approximately 20 years. I have had the pleasure of working with mental health, developmentally disabled and substance abuse populations. I have worked with Assisted Medication Management and active military members and their families. My greatest reward as a therapist is helping my clients explore ways to make the changes in their lives that will allow them to look forward to the future with hope. I believe that we all need someone to talk with who will really listen and accept us as we are, without judgment. I provide my clients with that warm, nonjudgmental environment—a safe place to explore the issues that may be preventing them from living the life they want. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Substance Abuse Supervisor. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Therapy and psycho-education extensively. My experience includes working with clients dealing with divorce and single-parenting, addictions, grief, women’s issues, and mood disorders, among other challenges. As a licensed therapist in North Carolina, I specialize in helping adults heal from complex (relational) trauma and the lasting patterns it can create in their relationships, nervous systems, and sense of self. I support clients experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, parenting challenges, relationship difficulties, low self-worth, and major life transitions. My work is especially suited for people who have spent much of their lives caring for others, adapting to maintain connection, or setting aside their own needs to keep relationships secure.
