My name is Theresa Armandi and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Philadelphia area. I have been a psychotherapist for over 20 years, treating a wide range of populations and disorders. I have worked in both Community Mental Health and in a group practice. My counseling style is warm and supportive, but I will challenge my clients in a gentle empathetic way to promote self -awareness as well as having them take responsibility for their choices, which may keep them stuck in self-restricting and self -damaging ways.
My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Client-Centered and Psychodynamic. I will utilize the style that best meets the needs of my clients and I will begin treatment where my client is and then tailor the therapy as trust is built.
My expertise is in treating clients who suffer from anxiety, depression, OCD, and other mood disorders. Additional specialties are working with young adults who are facing difficult transitions and working with parents who struggle with children who have behavioral difficulties and other parenting issues. I also assist parents who are going through a separation or divorce develop healthy co-parenting skills to help their children with the changing family.

This is my first time using an online counseling platform and I couldn’t be happier. The interactions with Theresa have been positive and profoundly useful. Since I started using this platform, my husband and I have signed up for online marriage counseling which is going very well. Theresa first started working with me when I was going through an extremely dark point in my life. I lost a job, a boyfriend, my best friend’s mother and was getting added stress from family. But, after talking to a professional, such as Theresa she taught me to begin at one problem in my life. Family I lived with and was always around, so they were the continuous contributing factor. She taught me how to react to their actions and how to approach a disagreement maturely.
Next we were working on relationships and why it’s so difficult to feel wanted from a man. We’re still on that but she did teach me that it’s not always me that isn’t enough. Sometimes people don’t know what they want or just aren’t as mature or invested in a committed relationship.
