About me

I am a clinical social worker currently living in southwestern Idaho. I am fortunate to be licensed in both Idaho and Minnesota. I enjoy helping people learn to live a fulfilling life where they are feeling confident in their choices. I believe identifying our fears, discussing our frustrations and exploring new options with another person who is willing to openly listen to us without judgment transforms our lives to a place of peaceful living. That can seem scary somedays.
I believe successful counseling experiences begin with development of a trusting relationship. It isn't easy to talk to a 'stranger' about our deepest fears, our longings, our doubts or our missed opportunities and life events where we think of ourselves as failures. Respect and courtesy for a persons values, culture, education and orientation is a good place to start.
I enjoy getting to learn about your interests, your hobbies, your adventures... . I live in a State where I am able to regularly enjoy outdoor activities in both Summer and Winter. And, I embrace quiet activities like reading, yarn work and laughing around a table of great food with my family. It's exciting to learn how other people explore their world and discover their goals and dreams. It's about learning how to easily discuss the difficult things during these times that helps create a trusting therapeutic relationship. I have a knack for asking what I call "powerful questions". It continually WOW's me to watch people find their own answers.
And finally, I believe it's important to understand that clinicians are people too. People with solid education and professional oversight. We are experts in many areas and often have vast amounts of education and knowledge. The one thing I've learned over the years is that I am an expert in some things and I am still not the expert in your life. you are. I am committed to helping you learn how to become your own best expert. You are the only one who has been with you through every experience, every moment. Believe it or not, you have all the answers. The answers and solutions are sometimes stuck in places we've forgotten or we're not able to see them. That's where I come in.
Let's work together to help you discover your strengths and to learn effective ways to help you feel the best YOU possible.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve.

The number one thing I love about Theresa is that she writes notes down and asks the hard questions. My old counselor every week would ask me what we talked about last week but with Theresa and her notes she just picks up where we left off which makes me feel like she is actually listening to me.

Theresa N. has a vast knowledge of do many aspects of life. She had listened to what I have said, and has been able to give me very good directions of how to deal with the issues I'm going through right now. She is kind, considerate, understanding, and I appreciate that I've been able to speak with her.
