Hello. I am a Licensed Florida Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and European-certified psychotherapist with over 12 years experience providing therapy and counseling to multicultural populations. Having spent almost 30 years of my life as an international expatriate in England, France, and Germany has shaped my open-minded, tolerant and nonjudgmental manner. I have always been passionate about understanding how others feel and I am honored to share their journey to happiness. The heart of my approach lies in guidance, deeper understanding, respect, and sincere observation and feedback to my clients. My therapy style is eclectic, and I tailor my approach to each individual client using Cognitive-Behavioral and Psychodynamic therapy techniques. In our sessions, clients may learn specific tools to significantly reduce symptoms and regain a positive perspective on life. This can include keeping a therapy journal or recognizing and replacing negative thought patterns. Psychodynamic therapy offers a more in-depth evaluation of the current situation by identifying behavioral patterns and functional reactions they may cause conflict in adult life. By unraveling the origin of those conflicts, clients will learn to recognize them, alter or replace them with more functional ones.
Every client is a unique person with unique issues. That is why there is no standard recipe for therapy and counseling. While therapy and counseling do release immediate tension and provide relief, some problems may need quality time to resolve. This is normal and understandable considering that many problems needed time to develop in the first place. Have no fear, we will take it step by step. I will be your guide on your journey to a more positive outlook on life and support you as best as I can.
My life and career started with my family's move to Paris, France in my mid-teens. Intrigued by a new culture and language I quickly learned to adapt to my new country. Later my family moved to Germany, where I learned to speak German, worked as a English-German interpreter and English tutor. Somewhere in those years I moved to England to study English literature. My great chance came after the fall of the Berlin Wall, where I ventured to live and study in Jena, in East Germany. After completing my master's degree in psychology, I continued school to train to be a psychotherapist, clocking more than 3,000 patient therapy hours over the course of several years. I gained experience working in a leading university hospital as a psychologist in the cardiac unit, dental clinic and women's clinic. Later I taught courses such as psychosomatics, intervention and communication skills to pre-med students. In my former practice in Munich, Germany, I welcomed expatriate clients from around the world who needed help with adjustment issues, culture shock, anxiety, depression, and loss and bereavement. I also specialize in supporting clients and couples with fertility issues who are in treatment or want to undergo medical fertility treatments.
My goal is to work with you as a team to reach the happiness and life satisfaction you deserve. Your life is important, and I am here to listen.
